A WEEKEND OF FRENCH SHORT FILMS @ BOOKS & BOOKS - MAR 14 2015 6:00 pm. Free admissions and open to the public (not suitable for young audiences) On the

occasion of the coming French Book Corner @ Books and Books which will take place on the 22nd of April, Red Chemistry will present a selection of French short films

on March 13-14-15, 2015. Since the advent and standardization of the theatrical feature length film, the audiovisual short has been more or less marginalized in the

discussions on cinematic experience. Historically stretching from the “early cinema” of the vaudeville to the “little films” of You Tube and beyond, the audiovisual short

industry traverses a wide variety of media platforms, practices, and technologies, including animation, video and installation art, short films (festival), video clips and TV

commercials, as well as mash-ups, self-made movies, made to measure for handheld devices, and open air video mapping, a skyrocketing trend in audiovisual

communication. French Films with English subtitles The Dive: a young boy is wondering if he is going to dive in the pool, on his birthday…Franck Estienne: the hard life of

a rep who just started to work. Finger: a family struggle to get a memory from their dead father. First Metro: first day for a homeless guy in the metro…Louis: the story

of a kidnapping. The Handyman: how a little boy dreams of healing his brother. Presenter: Mario Beguiristain, Ph.D., has over twenty years of experience in the fields of

advertising, broadcasting, and entertainment program production. He has created, written, produced and/or directed over one hundred commercials and over thirty

special programs in English, Spanish and French for the NBC, Univision, C.B.C. and Telemundo networks. He is a past recipient of a CBS Fellowship at the University of

Southern California, from where he holds doctorate and master degrees in Cinema-Television (1978). In 2003, he joined Miami Dade College as a film professor, where

he taught until his retirement in 2015. He has served on the Board of Red Chemistry, Inc. for two years and is now involved in the Cinemagique workshop program.

A WEEKEND OF FRENCH SHORT FILMS @ BOOKS & BOOKS - Mar 15 2015 5:00 pm. On the occasion of the coming French Book Corner @ Books and Books which will

take place on the 22nd of April, Red Chemistry will present a selection of French short films on March 13-14-15, 2015. Since the advent and standardization of the

technologies, including animation, video and installation art, short films (festival), video clips and TV commercials, as well as mash-ups, self-made movies, made to

measure for handheld devices, and open air video mapping, a skyrocketing trend in audiovisual communication. For younger audience: 13 and up. Humor or bitterness in

films? How animation or narrative can illustrate these two topics? Films (in French with English subtitles): Clik Clak: story of robots. Stricteternum: how to live in a

snowball. Inventors: hard life for inventors. Dripped: the life of a painter. Bottleneck: a young boy who does not see well. Milk: the dreams of a little boy. Panda’s flu: the

end of a story. Franck Estienne: the life of a salesman. Presenter: Nathalie Brenner, born and raised in France, she attended the prestigious acting school of Rene Simon

in Paris before moving to the United States. She holds a degree from Florida International University where she subsequently worked for 13 years in the Department of

Theatre and Dance. Nathalie is very committed to promote intercultural exchanges between Europe and North America and to help artists from both continents to

showcase their talents through festivals and competitions organized by Red Chemistry, Inc.

JACK BISHOP - AMERICA’S TEST KITCHEN COMPLETE VEGETARIAN COOKBOOK - Mar 16 2015 6:30 pm. Meatless isn’t just for Mondays. Everyone knows they should

eat more vegetables and grains but that prospect can be intimidating with recipes that are often too complicated for everyday meals or lacking in

fresh appeal or flavor. For the first time ever, the test kitchen has devoted its considerable resources to creating a vegetarian cookbook for the

way we want to eat today. This comprehensive cookbook provides inventive and uncomplicated techniques for making satisfying and boldly

flavorful vegetarian recipes. Whether you are a committed vegetarian or just want to eat less meat, you’ll find fresh and, of course, foolproof

options that make it easy to put vegetables front and center every day of the week. About the Editor: Jack Bishop is the editorial director of

America’s Test Kitchen. He joined the staff of Cook’s Magazine in 1988 and helped with the launch of Cook’s Illustrated in 1993. He established the

tasting protocols used at America’s Test Kitchen and has authored dozens of articles for the magazine. Jack directed the launch of Cook’s Country

magazine and oversees editorial operations at both magazines. He is the tasting lab expert on America’s Test Kitchen, the top-rated public

television cooking show, and Cook’s Country from America’s Test Kitchen. Jack edited The Best Recipe (1999) and established the book division at

America’s Test Kitchen. He is the author of several cookbooks, including A Year in a Vegetarian Kitchen, Vegetables Every Day, The Complete

Italian Vegetarian Cookbook, Pasta e Verdura, and Lasagna. Jack’s wife, Lauren Chattman, is a cookbook author and former pastry chef. They have

two daughters.
