LocationRigas Jurmala is a beach resort town situated in minute
distance from center of Riga the capital of Latvia.
Jurmala with its romantic wooden houses in art nouveau
(Jugendstil), its spacious beaches, forests, and calmly
flowing Lielupe river is especially attractive in the
modern world of standards, for it has not lost its
singularity. It makes a perfect place to combine work
and leisure. Hotel `Daina' is well suited for conferences.
It has several conference halls, restaurant and
accommodation located in one building right at the
beach.
TravelThe conference site is located about 20 km from Riga
airport and about 0.2 km from railway station `Melluzi'.
A bus service from/to airport will be provided for
participants.
Accommodation Single or double rooms will be available in price range
from 30 to 120 EUR per room per night. For further
information please visit the hotel's web site

e Message from the chairmen
Aim of this conference is to summarize new results in
traditional fields of fundamental and applied
magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) as well as to introduce
new ideas and topics. This conference continues
traditions of previous 14th Riga MHD and 5th pamirconferences. By regrouping these two conferences in a
single one the organisers hope to bring together different
MHD generations in a vital and rapidly developing
crossroads between the East and the West to promote
new discoveries and to take new challenges. The
organizers expect also to favour the relation between
research and industry and by this way to identify new
industrial interests for MHD research and development
activities. In this view, papers from engineers and from
experimental researches will be particularly welcome.
This conference organized in Latvia by Latvian, French
and German scientists, concretises also the effort
encouraged by the COST P6 program in the creation of
the Ampere institute devoted to fundamental and applied
MHD.
