Dual Stage suspended cab

Speedmatching

Fitted as standard, Speedmatching is the idealtransmission control aid when mowing, hedge-cutting and for a wide range of other localauthority maintenance work.

Speedmatching automaticallyselects the most appropriateDynashift ratio according toforward speed when changinggear or range. For example, if atractor is pulling a heavy trailerin 3rd gear in Dynashift ratio ‘F’,if the operator changes into 4thgear, Speedmatching willautomatically select either C orD ratio.

In front of the LED display is a rotary ‘ComfortControl’ switch.This allows the operator toadjust the rate of engagement offorward/reverse shuttle selection. So for loader

Dyna-6 on the MF 6400 models builds on the success of theproven Dynashift gearbox and offers six change-under-loadspeeds within each of four ranges.Two levels of automation areavailable: Speedmatching (standard) and AutoDrive (optional),plus creep and super-creep options, offering travel speeds fromlow-speed hedge-cutting to high-speed transport.

Working with Dyna-6

Dyna-6, uniquely, provides a smooth, six-speedDynashift change in all four gears.All Dynashiftchanges are made under load, without theneed to use the clutch pedal, which makesDyna-6 exceptionally easy to use.And with achoice of either left- or right-hand control,there’s total operating flexibility to suitdifferent applications and driver preferences.

With optional AutoDrive, the system willchange speeds automatically, which means youcan concentrate on achieving the best work quality.

Left-hand Power Control

The left-hand Power Control lever providesconvenient forward/reverse shuttle,powershift changes, range changes (inAutoDrive,Transport mode) and fingertipdeclutching, leaving the right hand free tooperate complex mounted equipment.

Shuttle operations are more efficient too,with programmable forward/reverse speedsreducing repetitive tasks and speeding cycle

times. Electronic control of the powershuttle improves the speed and security,resulting in smooth operation and protectionfor the transmission.

Right-hand control

The T-shaped gear lever is mounted in thearmrest, which is adjustable, so all of thecontrols are always in the right position.Simply ‘pulse’ the gear lever forwards orbackwards to change up or down through thesix Dynashift ratios individually.To changethrough the gears more rapidly, simply hold thelever in the forward or backward position.

Changing ranges is achieved simply by pressingthe range selection button as you move thelever.The range selected is indicated on anLED display on the right-hand console.

Operators set the shift

Unlike most other ‘automatic’ shifting systemsAutoDrive allows operators to set the enginespeed at which upshifts will be made - between1,600 to 2,200 rev/min.This helps usersprecisely tailor the automatic system to suiteach particular job and operating condition.

Advanced engines for morepower and torque

Powered by latest generation engines withElectronic Engine Management (EEM)*, MF6400 Series tractors have high torque withexcellent ‘constant power’ and torque back-up, right down to 1,000 engine rev/min.

These characteristics work in perfectharmony with the Dyna-6 transmission tomaximise productivity and fuel economy, atthe same time giving outstandingresponsiveness and ‘driveability’.

Electronic Engine Management

Most Dyna-6 models feature engines withElectronic Engine Management (EEM)*.This continuously adjusts the fuel injectionrelative to engine speed and load, resultingin more power and good fuel economy.

EEM also provides up to 10 hp ‘powerboost’** along with the ability to set andmemorise engine speeds.

Pressing a button recalls these precisesettings, which boosts productivity andsimplifies operation.

Dynashift Range

AutoDrive

AutoDrive is an advanced transmissioncontrol system that operators can set foroptimum productivity, efficiency and drivingcomfort. In‘Field’ mode the system changes the sixDyna-6 ratios, with operators changing therange with touch of a button.

Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission is the perfectpartner for the Panoramic cab, offering infinitely variablespeeds between 0-50 km/h*, and in both directions. Dyna-VT iseasy to use and allows operators to set the exact engine speedfor the implement and then adjust the forward speed toprecisely match the work and conditions.

Choice of operating modes

In standard mode, simply move the leversand go - as engine revs increase, the CVTchanges speeds to match. Similarly, asrevs fall, the CVT slows down, similar toan automatic car.

Selecting ‘pedal mode’ provides automaticoperating options. Now when you press thefoot pedal or move the hand throttle, itcontrols the forward speed.

Forager (PTO) mode

Ideal for operating PTO-driven equipment.Set the engine revs/min for the desired PTO

Dyna-VT operation combines sophisticationwith simplicity and ease of use.A smallarmrest-mounted lever, or the left-handPower Control lever control speed changes(in two ranges) and shuttling. Switching tofoot pedal operation offers a range of ‘modes’for ultimate control to boost productivity.The versatile transmission is perfect for awide range of municipal work and othertasks.Automatic functions provide completecontrol, resulting in less operator fatigue andhigher workrates.

Stepless speed control

To pull away, simply select forward or reversewith the left-hand Power Control lever.Thensimply operate the small Dyna-VT lever mountedat the end of the driver’s right armrest.Thefurther you push the lever, the faster the tractoraccelerates.No jerks, breaks in traction or power,just simple infinite speed control from super creepspeeds right through to top transport speed.

As well as offering simple operation Dyna-VTprovides a host of sophisticated functions toachieve optimum performance at the lowestoperating costs.

Left-hand Power Control

Lift the Power Control lever, mounted onthe left-hand side under the steeringwheel, and push it forwards to go aheador backwards for reverse.The longer thelever is held in position, the faster thetractor goes - it really is that simple.

To change direction, simply lift the PowerControl lever and shift through neutral toshuttle between forward and reverse, leavingthe right hand free to operate compleximplements.

Speed control

With two rotary dials - ‘SV1’ and ‘SV2’ - youcan set the speed and acceleration. Simplyturn the dial until the desired speed is shownon the console.

These are then recalled at the touch of a buttonon the armrest. Speed control is particularlyuseful for municipal applications where itcombines with other transmission functions toprovide optimum control and productivity.

speed and then move the lever or pedal forinfinitely variable forward speeds.

You can use the SV1 and SV2 dials for finespeed control.

Power mode

‘Power Mode’ works similarly to an‘automatic’ transmission with maximumspeed at maximum engine revs. Full power isavailable for hauling heavy trailers.

Economy mode

In ‘Economy mode’ ratio changes are madeat lower rev/min, providing high economyfor lighter duty applications.

‘Supervisor’ keeps control

The ‘Supervisor’ works in the backgroundcontinually adjusting the transmission ratioto optimise the relationship between engineload and forward speed.You can, however,

Electronic Engine Management

At travel speeds more than 15 km/h theEEM system automatically boosts power byat least 10 hp.

Engine speed control

You can pre-set and memorise two differentengine speeds with switches mounted onthe right-hand console.These can be set forwork and turning speeds, which provides

precise control of engine speed and allowsthem to be changed at the touch at thebutton.

Use ‘+/-’ to pre-set enginespeed and ‘A/B’ tomemorise and access therequired settings.

Load sensing hydraulics

Closed Centre Load-Sensing (CCLS) hydraulicsystems provide high oil-flow and pressureaccording to demand, with virtually instantresponse.This means there’s no wastedpower or fuel used for pumping oil that’s notrequired. CCLS is standard on MF 7400models and an option on MF 6400s.

Auxiliary spool valves

With a choice of mechanical or electro-hydraulic valves or Spool Valve ManagementSystem (SMS), complex equipment can becontrolled easily and effectively.

Power beyond

All CCLS and “Twin flow” systems offer a‘Power beyond’ facility. Extra flow and returnpipes provide oil flow directly from the pump,enabling additional remote spool valves to beconnected, without occupying the existingcouplers.

Highly accurate linkage control

Massey Ferguson’s renowned ELC ElectronicLinkage* Control, with its class-leading

accuracy and intuitive operation, providesprecise draft, position and intermix functions.Further sophistication includes sensitivity, rateof drop and ‘quick soil engagement’.

Frequently used controls are mounted in thearmrest, with other functions grouped on thestraightforward ELC console, providing simpleand accurate operation. *Linkageis standard on MF 7400;optional on MF 6400.

Active Transport Control (ATC)

Active Transport Control is standard and anintegral function of the ELC system.This is ashock-absorbing system that minimises the‘pitching’ action - automatically adjusting fordifferent implement weights.This providessmoother, safer, faster transport and, byreducing shock loads through the lift ramsand hydraulic circuits, also protects theoperator and the tractor from jarring.

Three-point linkage option

MF 6400 Panoramic Cab models have theoption of no rear linkage, ELC and hydraulics,or they can be fully specified to meet theneeds of the most demanding users. AllMF 7400 models come with three-pointlinkage as standard.This features twinexternal lift rams for high lift capacities andquick-attach top- and lower links.

Front-linkage option

A front linkage, with or without PTO, is anoption on all MF Panoramic cab models,which further enhances the tractors’versatility.There is a choice of 2.5 tonne or3.5 tonne lift capacity to suit the tractor.

With power, versatility and simplicity ofoperation as key design criteria,Panoramic cab tractors offer high PTOspecifications to meet the needs of everyconceivable application.

All controls for front (optional) and rearsystems are grouped conveniently on theright-hand console.Additional fender-mountedengagement and emergency stop buttons alsogive added convenience and safety.

All models also have automated PTO control.In ‘auto’ the PTO is disengaged when thelinkage is raised and when travelling at speedsmore than 25 km/h. It is engaged when thelinkage is lowered.

Datatronic III and the GTAConsole (Optional)

Datatronic III and the new GTA Consoleoffer unrivalled levels of automated operationof complex equipment, while also gatheringand recording information in multiplememories.

Tractor and operating information, logged bythe Console, can be downloaded via an SD(Secure Digital) Card and transferred to anoffice PC.The system comes with GTA 100Communicator software as standard. Furthersoftware options build into a powerfulmanagement tool. This allows real costs tobe allocated to jobs or fields.
