Designed to excel in durability and reliability MEYLE-HD parts help streamline workshop processes
Multimedia pit-stops and truck racing driving simulators at the exhibition stand to make technology an interactive experience
Hamburg, April 2015. At the Automechanika Dubai being held from 02 June to
04 June 2015 German manufacturer Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG showcases
its comprehensive range of premium-quality MEYLE and MEYLE-HD
automotive spare parts. The focus is on the spare parts manufacturer's
constantly growing truck product range. Another spotlight item of this year's
trade fair appearance is the company's extensive range of repair solutions for
passenger car steering and suspension systems, brakes, cooling as well as
suspension and damping.
The company’s truck product range has been progressively expanded to include
ever more applications for the major brands Mercedes, MAN, DAF, Volvo, RVI,
Scania and Iveco. The MEYLE range for trucks today comprises among others the
product groups steering and suspension, cooling, brakes, compressed air systems
as well as various repair sets for fast and uncomplicated repair work. The focus on
this year's stand is on cooling as well as on steering and suspension and expansion
tanks.
As a special testimony to MEYLE's truck expertise the company just recently
announced that it continues its technological partnership with the two Truck Racing
Teams “tankpool24” and “CEPSA”. MEYLE supplies both crews with high-
performance brake discs and pads. As a technological partner of both racing teams
MEYLE's engineers maintain an on-going dialogue with the teams' technicians,
continually scrutinising and evaluating MEYLE part performance under race
conditions. "The findings are fed back directly into the MEYLE brake development
process", says Sven Nielsen, Technology Manager at MEYLE, thus emphasizing
that both technology partners benefit greatly from knowledge transfer. To give the
visitors at Automechanika Dubai a chance to experience steering a truck during a
race, two driving simulators are set up at the MEYLE stand.
The premium MEYLE-HD brand features prominently with existing products and
latest additions to its range of steering and suspension parts – for example BMW tie
rod ends. Their constant exposure to excessive loads makes these parts prone to
premature wear. To increase part stability and service life the ball head of the
MEYLE-HD tie rod end was increased compared to conventional designs. As a
result, the forces applied on the ball are distributed across a larger surface, thereby
minimising the surface pressure acting on the ball joint's plastic socket. Specially
formulated to ensure full compatibility with the materials making up the joint, i.e.
steel, plastics and rubber, a high-performance grease also ensures that friction is
distributed uniformly across the entire load range.
From the brakes product group, MEYLE Platinum Discs are on display. MEYLE
Platinum Discs come as ready-to-install assemblies, most of them also including the
locating screws. Thanks to the disc's unique UV paint coating, it does not require
degreasing and is resistant to rim cleaners. Cutting-edge paint technology provides
for long-term corrosion protection while minimising energy consumption in the
manufacturing process. Another exhibition piece: new MEYLE Platinum Pads. The
pads have been redesigned to meet ever increasing demands on the tribological
behaviour of brake discs and pads. The new MEYLE Platinum Pads are fitted with
triple-layer silver shims offering maximum performance and comfort.
Furthermore, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG showcases six newly developed MEYLE-
HD water pumps to fit a wide array of VAG models. Distinguished by the "Made in
Germany" quality seal, the pumps have been re-engineered to offer a level of quality
exceeding by far the standards typically available on the independent aftermarket.
As pump life is primarily determined by the seal ring, MEYLE-HD water pumps are
fitted with mechanical seals produced by a German premium-grade manufacturer.
Unlike the (hard) carbon designs typically used on aftermarket products, the MEYLE
slide ring and counter ring are made from high-strength silicon carbide (SiC) making
the seal extremely resistant to abrasive wear and ensuring that the sealing gap
remains unchanged even under the most challenging operating conditions.
Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG develops, produces and sells top-quality and quality-
certified spare parts for cars, vans and trucks for the independent aftermarket under
the brands of MEYLE and MEYLE-HD. The manufacturer’s portfolio currently
includes more than 18,500 articles, covering practically every requirement on the
market. Engineers at the company also focus on products and services which can
improve processes within the workshop. The MEYLE engineers have developed
around 750 parts for thousands of different vehicle models and have technically
optimised such parts compared to those made by the original equipment
manufacturers. These MEYLE-HD products are extremely resilient and have a long
service life.
At the Automechanika Dubai Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG exhibits in Hall 6

MEYLE Platinum Pads – high performance brake pads for the highest level of safety in any situation
Premium brake pads for maximum braking performance and the shortest braking distances
High performance of MEYLE brake pads demonstrated and confirmed by independent testing institute, ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg GmbH
Hamburg, April 21, 2015. Brakes are one of the most safety-relevant
components in a vehicle, and in serious situations they can save lives.
MEYLE's sophisticated brake pads, available under the name, MEYLE Platinum
Pads, have a new friction lining compound that meets the highest
requirements and delivers a special quality of comfort. Not only are they free
of copper and heavy metals, they also stand out on account of their safe
braking behaviour at high temperatures and the extremely low levels of noise
generated.
A performance test conducted by one of the largest independent car testing sites in
the world has proved that MEYLE Platinum Pads ensure short braking distances and
guarantee safe braking in any situation. Automotive Testing Papenburg GmbH (ATP)
used three test sequences to examine the behaviour of standard brake pads in direct
comparison with MEYLE Platinum Pads.
The first test was conducted in two identical Audi Q7 models – MEYLE Platinum
Pads were developed among other things to meet the increased requirements of
heavy high end cars and SUVs.
In a braking test on a dry track, the car with the MEYLE brake pads came to a stop
faster, thereby gaining crucial metres which could be decisive in dangerous
situations. The µ split test on a simulated, half wet, half snow-covered track showed
how the brakes react in tough driving conditions, i.e. whether the car brakes in a
straight line in a stable fashion. This test, too, was won by the car carrying the
MEYLE Platinum Pads. Braking behaviour in extreme situations was tested on the
high-speed track as part of the high-speed fade test. For this test, ten braking
procedures were carried out in succession with no regeneration time with the result
that the brakes reached temperatures far in excess of 650°C. The stable friction
coefficient confirms this product's top performance. This series of tests was repeated
with small and medium-sized cars: the MEYLE Platinum Pads also achieved the best
results in the BMX X1 and VW Golf V.
The results at a glance:
Dry track µ split test
Audi Q7 MEYLE: 23.35m Production brake pad: 23.49m
MEYLE: 61.37m Production brake pad: 61.89m
BMW X1 MEYLE: 25.85m Production brake pad: 26.67m
MEYLE: 60.94m Production brake pad: 61.16m
VW Golf V MEYLE: 24.50m Production brake pad: 25.47m
MEYLE: 59.41m Production brake pad: 60.48m

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9-zrpd-kTA Extensive, independent tests carried out in real-time conditions have therefore
demonstrated the outstanding characteristics of the MEYLE Platinum Pads with
regard to braking behaviour and friction coefficient. But the brake pads from the
manufacturer from Hamburg not only impress when it comes to safety, they also
meet high environmental standards without any loss of comfort or performance.
Three-layer, silver shims attached to the back of the brake pad's support plate and
glued together, complete the MEYLE Platinum Pads. A further benefit of MEYLE
Platinum Pads is that they are subjected to heat treatment in a so-called "scorching"
process at the end of the production process. The result is that the brake pads
require a shorter run-in period after installation and can be tested to the limit.

Technological partnership to promote knowledge transfer
Hamburg-based manufacturer supplies brake discs and pads
Hamburg, 18 March 2015. Committed to Truck Racing, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts
AG has renewed its technological partnership with the "tankpool24" and
"CEPSA" racing teams and also supplies both crews with high-performance
brake disc and pads.
Under the MEYLE brand Wulf Gaertner Autoparts markets a comprehensive range
of commercial vehicle repair solutions including parts from the steering & chassis,
cooling and brakes product groups. Commercial vehicle brakes are exposed to high
levels of stress – even more so when used on race trucks competing in professional
motor sport series such as the FIA European Truck Racing Championship. The truck
needs to brake sharply whenever it approaches a bend, decelerating from
approximately 160km/h to about 40 to 50km/h, which causes the brakes to hit
extreme temperatures within seconds. "MEYLE brake discs are designed to
distribute heat effectively, thereby ensuring that braking performance remains at a
constant high level throughout the disc's service life", says Sven Nielsen, Technical
Director at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts. "The MEYLE brake discs and pads which we
supply perform reliably under the most demanding operating conditions – daily proof
of their excellent quality."
As a technological partner of both racing teams Wulf Gaertner Autoparts' engineers
maintain an on-going dialogue with the teams' technicians, continually scrutinising
and evaluating MEYLE part performance under race conditions. "The findings are
fed back directly into the MEYLE brake development process", says Nielsen, thus
emphasizing that both technology partners benefit greatly from knowledge transfer.

750th MEYLE-HD part: Wulf Gaertner Autoparts introduces new transmission mount for Mercedes-Benz
Reinforced rubber compound to suit different engine types
One MEYLE-HD part to replace several original designs
Improved damping characteristics ensure longer service life vouched for by exclusive four-year warranty
Hamburg, 03 March 2015. Under its MEYLE-HD brand Wulf Gaertner Autoparts
AG introduces a new transmission mount to fit Mercedes-Benz applications:
The newly formulated rubber compound makes the part suitable for a number
of different engine types. Repair professionals benefit from smoother ordering
processes and swifter repairs of several Mercedes-Benz models.
Exposed to excessive vibration and gear shift forces, transmission mounts are prone
to wear out quickly, requiring frequent replacement. The new MEYLE-HD
transmission mounts now enable workshops to meet this repair demand without
hassle: Unlike OE designs which use cured rubber materials of different hardnesses
depending on the engine type, the engineering team of German manufacturer Wulf
Gaertner Autoparts has created a versatile rubber compound which is suitable for a
variety of models. Offering a highly compact design the HD part features a carefully
formulated rubber material engineered to absorb vibration even better. Subject to
particularly high stress, this helps increase overall transmission mount life, making
this MEYLE-HD part a smart option for taxi fleet operators.
By choosing the new MEYLE-HD transmission mount, workshops can cater for
various car models with just one spare part, which also outlives its OE rivals. The
reinforced design means that Wulf Gaertner Autoparts can give a four-year warranty
on MEYLE-HD transmission mounts for Mercedes-Benz applications. Referenced
014 024 1100/HD, the part fits Mercedes-Benz C-, CLK,- CLS-, E-, G-, S-, SL- and
SLK-Class models.
