This autobiography has been a silent thought pushing its’ way to the front of my mind for the past few years. My goal is to present the various connections and ways I think, in the context of design.

The following pages focus on the six categories that govern my thoughts; artistic means, designers mind, business chops, humanistic understanding, behavioral insights and analytical perspective.

These connections form the person I have become and represent the core of how I think.

Artistic expression has always been at the core of who I am as an individual. Whether it be an interesting way to photograph information or a unique perspective on the interrelationships between people during a conversation.

Constantly, I charge myself with looking at the world through the eye of an artist. And

:artistic meansin this way I allow myself to think in a more experimental and sometimes unrealistic way.

As a designer my challenge is to view the world with an unbiased perspective. Using human centered methods and connecting emotionally with the user is a virtue one should not overlook.

Human centered design is the basis for true �#-�3�<�� @$� �--0&� �� �"1&� �0��3"<� �$�4�$3��"�

:designer processfor the designers connection with their research and synthesis.

An interest in the behavioral studies of group life dynamics and the physical and social interaction queues of people are necessary components to the human centered process.

A formal education in marketing and entrepreneurship combined with experience in digital analytics has set the ground work for my voice in the business world. With that voice, I rigorously implement a professional rhetoric and steadfast attitude towards opportunities and analysis of this domain.

During the current juncture of my life, artistic passion has become a consistent motivational driver. With that said, however, I have a

If more people understood that we are all humans, real change could be instituted in this world. When world leaders and national consumers look outward into the environment of earth we will better connect and understand the multifaceted relationship of all people in this world.

Grand statement as it is, we all shit, piss and eat. We all think for ourselves, make our own decisions, abide by the currency of our nations and work in whatever form necessary deemed by the class of society in which we live. That does not conclude a disconnectedness or lack of

:humanistic understanding�ê� 3�&$�&3��0� &4$30��1��$���4#�$1��0&#�&40�daily decisions.

I digress, and must speak more directly to the subject at hand. That is my investment in the basic human instincts.

Both using and analyzing human nature in the ‘disparate’ interactions of my professional �$�� -�01&$�"� �$9&"9�#�$31� �ê&0�1� �� �0��3�0�understanding and ability to perceive information. Observing through the senses is a wonderful exercise in getting to the root of any investigation.

Behavior drives the interactions of people in the context of conversation, work and play. Observing the behavior of users in their environment allows the keen observer to understand and connect with the user in an empathetic manner.

@""&:�$��3��1��&�1�09�3�&$1�3&��$�4�$ ����1��$�means true attention has been applied to the interaction of people.

:behavioral insightsR&0�1&#����&:�9�0��3��1��--0&� ���1���Þ 4"3��1�it removes authority from the designer since ideation and creation is based on research as opposed to personal motivation. This loss in authority empowers the designer more by highlighting the users voice and not designing simply to design.

Analytics is really an enabler. Designers do not invent stories, we use tools to extract hidden connections in data. And analytics is one of the more important tools in the proverbial toolbox.

One cannot discount the interaction. Think about each and every step involved with touch, scent, sight, auditory responses, intellectual stimulation etcetera. Regardless of the delivered concept and content, if the artist truly understands the interaction, then the experience will be pleasing. And that is all one can work towards.

:human centered artFrom the other side of this graphic, implementing an artistic mind into human centered research methods increases ones ability to understand people. There are always standard approaches to research methods, but an artists view only enhances your abilities.

Art should not have limitations. Conceptual information is not conceived solely from the mind of an artist but arises from the complexities and beauty of data.

:analysis as artAnalysis is simply the tool an artist uses to develop the story of his experiential work. Just as art a the tool the analyst can use to portray a story.

Using design to inform change in business and governments is one of the more challenging and interesting areas of work.

As a designer, one understands the power of implementing the learned process and how it can help with the challenges and rigors of corporate structure and strategy or governmental regulations and policy change.

Regardless of what the design focus es on (interaction, social, strategy, product or operations) the designer should always deliver a well thought, well tested and well received user experience.

By leveraging the human senses, the designer gains deeper understandings and perspective of his audience.

:human centered designWhen using human interactions, experiences and senses as a cyclical emotional and physical response mechanism the designer empowers himself to be a facilitator of the information.

The designer is the fulcrum for putting aside personal agendas, corporate goals and hierarchical delegations to instead focus energy towards the client and user. Leveraging his toolkit as a way to formulate and design opportunities of change.

In order to formulate an accurate mental model of a system, one must synthesize. Arguably the most important aspect of any design process.

:analytical designThe lack of adequate synthesis renders the designer with a limited situation perspective.

Creating a Mental model gives the designer a voice in discussing sensitive information with his client. Without a voice in discussions, the designer has failed and provides no value.

Business education teaches that people are the most valuable asset in a business. Human centered design teaches that people are the core focus of design.

People have ways of interacting that no other asset can have. We have feelings. We can touch, taste, smell, listen and hear. We understand the abstract and the concrete. The designer taps into these senses and hones them as a skill. These basic human senses are essential tools;

:humans in business�1-� 31�&� �"����3��3��ê&0���4#�$1�3������"�3<�3&�be fully invested in the challenges we face.

Many corporations have lost touch of their people. Revenue, expansion and market saturation has become the main focus of many corporations. This needs to change and the focus should be on the user. Whether that be the employee or the end user.

It is the designers challenge to facilitate conversations and be the enablers of change.

It’s humorous when you realize the similarities between humans and technology. But if you think about it, we designed all things mechanical, and therefore designed them in the same way our minds function.

Nothing so absurdly new, intangible to understand or incomprehensibly real can be designed or invented. That’s because in order for us to create it, we need to have a mental model of what ‘it’ actually is. If there is a mental model, then there is a connection to the processes in our mind. Regardless if this is the

You may think that was all tangential to the analysis of business, but instead I invite you to see how comparable the metaphor becomes.

Businesses are structured in ways feasible for our minds. This is limiting at times due to a lack of creativity. Analyzing business operations can shed creative light on their functional properties and allow for previously unforeseen opportunities of change.
