This is your invitation to share your expression of God’s truth as portrayed in four themes from Handel's masterpiece Messiah. This year’s festival will include a demonstration day in June; the gallery, where all works will be for sale; an opening ceremony and awards presentation featuring the Ouachita Baptist University and Fellowship Bible Church Choir and Symphony; a special gallery selected for display at the Governor’s Mansion; and, the Messiah sermon series.All events (other than those at the Governor’s Mansion) will be held at the Fellowship Bible Church Little Rock campus at 1401 Kirk Road.

Arguably the most popular musical work of all time, Handel’s Messiah is set to beautiful and awe-inspiring music from Old

and New Testament passages that proclaim the salvation story. According to scholar and librettist, Charles Jennens, “[Handel]

intended Messiah as a statement of faith in Christ’s divinity, in reaction to the increasing popularity of rationalized atheism.” 1

PART 1 Our Savior is ComingHe has heard your cry; the agony of hard life. The way to God will be clear... The Messiah, Jesus Christ, is coming giving you direct access to God!

PART 3 Unto Us A Child is BornThe shepherds thought it was just another ordinary night... until the angel startled them with the great news that the Savior was born. A multitude of angels sang praises proclaiming His birth.

PART 4 Hallelujah!Jesus, The Triumphant King of Heaven, shall reign forever!

THE ARTS FESTIVAL WILL FOCUS ON THE “CHRISTMAS PORTION” IN FOUR PARTS:

ELIGIBILITY & GUIDELINES This exhibition is open to all artists who are able to attend the events associated with the exhibition. Out of state artists who can attend the opening are encouraged to ship or deliver their art.

There is no fee for entry. All work accepted into the festival must be appropriately framed and ready for wall mounting. Hanging work must not exceed 60 inches in any direction. Plexiglass is preferred for glazing, and if glass is used, the artist will be liable for the cost of repair if accidentally broken. Three-dimensional work must be installed by the artist, with volunteer assistance if necessary.

All work must be original in concept and creation. No copies of other’s work will be accepted. There is no limitation on media used. Work may be abstract or representational, but it must have an apparent connection with the theme to be accepted. This is explained in the instructions for the inspiration statement.

JURIED ART EXHIBITION/AWARDSAll works submitted will be juried for acceptance by the Fellowship Worship Arts Festival Committee from digital photographs and inspiration statements submitted by each artist during online registration. Artwork accepted will be juried for awards by our Juror, Todd Herman, Executive Director of the Arkansas Arts Center. Twenty works will be selected by the committee for a special gallery at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion and will be available for sale at either location. All works selected will be featured in a digital display during Messiah performances.

ARTISTS DIVISIONSVisual artists may submit work in one of these three divisions:

PROFESSIONAL Career professional artists and educators-artists

who regularly receive compensation for their artistic works.

Maximum of one submission per theme category.

ARTIST COMMUNITY Any nonprofessional artist over the age of

18. Maximum of one submission per theme category.

SCHOLARS Artists between the ages of 12-18 and in Jr. or Sr. High

School. College students register under the Artist Community

division. Only one work may be submitted in this division.

SALE OF ARTAll works accepted into the exhibition must be available for purchase at a price determined by the artist. Artists will receive 75% of the purchase price, and Fellowship Worship Arts will retain 25% for administrative expenses associated with the festival. It is the objective of Fellowship Worship Arts to sell as much art as possible for the benefit of the artists. In previous festivals, up to 40% of the art accepted has been purchased.

Your purchase price must be submitted in whole figures. Sales taxes will be added at the time of purchase. Please be aware that if your work sells and your 75% is over $600 we will ask for information for tax purposes. You will receive a tax statement 1099 for your portion of the sale.

INSPIRATION STATEMENTEach piece submitted must be accompanied by an inspiration statement that describes how your work represents the theme category you have chosen.

This statement will be required as you submit your work on the website. It must be as concise as possible (500 characters) as it will be a part of the gallery display. It may be necessary to edit your statement to fit the display. If your work is purchased it will convey to the patron.

Your statement is very important as it helps the Juror and the viewers understand and appreciate your artwork and any symbolism not easily interpreted. It will be considered heavily in the selection process and is not the same as an artist’s bio.

WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ARKANSAS GOVERNOR’S MANSION.Twenty of the submitted works will be chosen to be on display (and for sale) at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion this Christmas season. In addition to Fellowship’s opening performance of Handel’s Messiah by the Ouachita Baptist and Fellowship Bible Church choirs and awards ceremony on December 4, there will be a special ticketed performance at the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion on December 9.
