HAPPY, HEALTHY NEW YEAR EVERYONE … 2014 has ar-
rived! We are delighted to have Pope Francis as Time’s Person of
the Year for 2013. He is a wonderful example of how we can all
make a difference in this world. Compassion, tolerance, respect and
love of all people in the world. Let’s all do our share and work for
PEACE.
A wonderful couple, Bill and Penny Cahill, who went above and be-
yond the nice neighbor category; rather fabulous, cmpassionate,
hardworking, productive and extremely popular people, have moved
to Massachusetts to be closer with their sons and their families …
they will be greatly missed. Their tireless contributions to The Vil-
lage, the VWPHOA and fellow residents, speaks volumes about
their incredible spirit and ’make a difference attitude.’ They will be
back to visit soon and are always welcome. Kudos to BILL &
PENNY CAHILL!
This winter we can all see the festive spirit of The Village, espe-
cially in the evening. Numerous Holiday Celebrations were enjoyed
by many residents, including our new residents … delighted you
were there. SPECIAL THANKS AGAIN TO BARBARA
KEANEY AND HER WONDERFUL HELPERS … FAN,
JOAN, PAT, etc. … for all you do for all of us in The Village.
*Special thanks to Pat Hall for sharing Elvis with us at the Women’s
Club Dinner at Spain’s Restaurant.
Housekeeping in the Village:
Dwight & Dennis Kenyon just completed the interior painting of
the Clubhouse, upstairs and downstairs. Just in time for the 2014
New Year’s Party. Details included in VWPHOA new President
Victoria Clare’s article.
Disconnect all hoses from exterior faucets.
Be sure to order an additive to your Roth above ground oil tank.
Dwight & Dennis Kenyon furnace roof jack and heat tape checks
for $25.00. Call the office to be added to his list (792.7107.)
Snow Plowing: Joe Fuller will again be plowing the Village streets
and for those interested in private driveways and a walkway … 4”
storm price is $25.00, then each additional 2” of snow adds another
$10.00. So if we have a 6” snow storm, the price would be $35.00
for a driveway and walkway.

One way to help one of our local schools, The Prout School, for those who shop at Stop
and Shop, is to sign up for their A+ Rewards Program for The Prout School with no
cost to you. As alumni and parents of alumni, we would be ready, willing and able to
register you right at the office … it will take a minute to go online and enter your Stop
& Shop card number. Prout then receives cash at the end of the year. Please consider
participating.
PLEASE READ THE ATTACHED NATIONAL GRID LETTER.
RI Wild Plant Society, RIWPS, is back in The Village harvesting plants for the Febru-
ary Flower Show at RI Convention Center.
Free notary service continues at the office, just give Lisa a call.
Please leave your lamp post on for safe traveling in the evening.
The Village Crier newsletter is now online along with our monthly calendar … go to
www.villageatwordenspond.com … click on Community. Thank you to our wonderful
Editor, Geri Chiulli … we could not do it without you … many thanks!
CELEBRATE, BE THANKFUL and ENJOY 2014.

[little tree]
by E. E. Cummings
little tree little silent Christmas tree you are so little you are more like a flower who found you in the green forest and were you very sorry to come away? see i will comfort you because you smell so sweetly i will kiss your cool bark and hug you safe and tight just as your mother would, only don't be afraid look the spangles that sleep all the year in a dark box dreaming of being taken out and allowed to shine, the balls the chains red and gold the fluffy threads, put up your little arms and i'll give them all to you to hold every finger shall have its ring and there won't be a single place dark or unhappy then when you're quite dressed you'll stand in the window for everyone to see and how they'll stare! oh but you'll be very proud and my little sister and i will take hands and looking up at our beautiful tree we'll dance and sing "Noel Noel"
