THE HOLY FAMILY OF JESUS, MARY & JOSEPH December 27, 2015
Our Youth Group is doing awesome. We have hundreds of
young people coming every week and we would love for you and
your children to join. For grades 6-12 we meet every Sunday at
4:30PM and we have wonderful meals provided each week
prepared by a great team of volunteer chefs.
Our CCD program for the younger grades (preK-5) meets on
Wednesday night at 6PM. Seeing a whole gym full of children
singing praise and worship songs is so inspiring! They have a
really great time and a lot of fun.
For adults we have three different bible study and faith formation
groups. One meets at 6PM on Wednesday so that there is
something for the parents while their children are here. The
others are on Wed. at 9AM and a women’s bible study with
playgroup for kids on Tuesday at 9:30AM. Come and dive
deeply into the Word of God and into our beautiful Catholic faith!
We also have great choirs if you like to sing! The new parish
organ adds a lot in this regard and we have a whole website
dedicated to our parish music. Check it out(!):
http://sacredheartsingers.blogspot.com/
We have also a parish facebook page:
www.facebook.com/sacredheartclovis
And of course our website is always helpful, with pictures and
parish news, etc.:
www.sacredheartclovis.com
We have adoration and daily Mass, so that you can come and
get away to pray and breathe a deep spiritual air. We have tons of
times for confessions too. Monday-Friday during the lunch
hour, there is confession and the church is open for you to get
away and just come to pray and for a little visit to God. We have
confession also on Monday and Friday afternoons at 4:30PM and
Saturday afternoon at 3:30PM.
Pope Francis has declared this The Year of Mercy. It
is my great hope that all can experience the great Mercy of God in
this time. Let God have mercy on you! And the beautiful thing
about us as Catholic is that we are always just one good
confession away from being fully back into the grace of God and
the life of our Church.
By the grace of God, this is a great and thriving and dynamic
parish—a truly wonderful place to call one’s spiritual home. So
to all, merry Christmas! And indeed welcome home.
To Our Newborn Lord Jesus be all honor and glory and
thanksgiving forever and ever!
“My love to all of you in Christ Jesus” (1Cor 16:24),
Fr. Simon
Merry Christmas to all!!!Merry Christmas to all!!!Merry Christmas to all!!!Merry Christmas to all!!!
I am so glad that each and every one
of you is here, and that you have
come here to worship and celebrate
the birth of Our Savior.
I know there are many who have prepared for this feast day
through the sacraments and through much prayer. Be filled
with joy and sing with the angels, glory to God in the highest!
I know too that here might be some who are just now coming to
the feast. But as the Parable of the Vineyard Workers
(Matthew chapter 20 verses 1-16) teaches, even those who
come at the last 11th hour receive the same wage. This great
feast of the Lord’s Birth is for you. Be filled with joy and run
with the shepherds to adore our God, now at long last appearing
in human flesh.
Jesus has come to save all of us, and because He loves each
and every one of us. He knows us each by name and knows all
that we have been through and He is filled with nothing but
love and mercy for us. So much that He became man and was
born on this day for us.
To one and all, thank you for being here. We hope that you
will always feel welcome here. That you would always feel
that you are wanted and loved here, and that this is your home.
Indeed, we have many, many wonderful things going on in the
parish and we would love for you and your family to join. We
would absolutely love to have you! Here are just a handful of
things going great in the parish:

NEXT WEEKS GOSPEL READING
Matthew 2:1-12
A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew
When Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea,
in the days of King Herod,
behold, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying,
“Where is the newborn king of the Jews?
We saw his star at its rising
and have come to do him homage.”
When King Herod heard this,
he was greatly troubled,
and all Jerusalem with him.
Assembling all the chief priests and the scribes of the people,
He inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.
They said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea,
for thus it has been written through the prophet:
And you, Bethlehem, land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; since from you shall come a ruler, who is to shepherd my people Israel.” Then Herod called the magi secretly
and ascertained from them the time of the star’s appearance.
He sent them to Bethlehem and said,
“Go and search diligently for the child.
When you have found him, bring me word,
that I too may go and do him homage.”
After their audience with the king they set out.
And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded
them,
until it came and stopped over the place where the child was.
They were overjoyed at seeing the star,
and on entering the house
they saw the child with Mary his mother.
They prostrated themselves and did him homage.
Then they opened their treasures
and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod,
they departed for their country by another way.
