Under the HOPE VI Urban Revitalization Program, theMemphis Housing Authority and its partners have developed anational redevelopment model to revitalize former distressedpublic housing developments. The City of Memphis remainssteadfast in its commitments to provide available resourcesand technical support to assist with the overall redevelopmenteffort and revitalization of our distressed neighborhoods.
Since 1995, the City of Memphis has been awarded over$144,000,000 in HOPE VI Program funds alone, leveraged to$375,000,000 to facilitate redevelopment activities at fiveformer public housing sites. In addition to the redevelopmentof over 2,200 affordable, public housing, and market rate newand rehabilitated rental and for-sale housing units. Thesemajor transformation initiatives, will encourage local andminority business development, as well as transform the livesof public housing residents through achievement of economicself-sufficiency.
