Background – Membership: where are we now?

• Continue to achieve great outcomes for communities locally and abroad

• Membership continues to be rewarding• However, we face the challenge of a

slowly declining membership. On average:– Our clubs are getting smaller– Our membership is aging– We lose as many members as we attract

• Responds to the need to increase membership

• Based on a target of 3% net growth each year over the next three years

• Endorsed by Governors, Governors Elect and Governors Nominee in November 2012

• The plan was endorsed by the RI board in October 2012• Consistent with RI’s goal for 3% growth each year

for next three years

How the plan was developed

• Planning workshop in Sydney – August 2012

• 22 participants:– Past District Governors– Rotarians– Rotaractors (2)– Senior management staff from RI and

RDU offices in Parramatta

• Group broadly representing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Islands
