The Dora Maxwell Award recognizes a credit union for its social responsibility work and the charitable projects that support its community. Central Maine Credit Union also received a First Place Louise Herring Award for Philosophy in Action for its Monty Moose Youth Savers Program. The Louise Herring Award is awarded to a credit union for extraordinary programs that are focused on its membership and create services that benefit members. The Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award recognizes leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of youth financial literacy. It considers all activities supporting the personal finance education of young members. Central Maine Credit Union won first place for its Teen Program. This is the ninth consecutive year Central Maine Credit Union has won the Dora Maxwell and Louise Herring Awards. It is the first time for the Desjardins Award. National Award: Central Maine Credit Union received a 2nd Place National Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Award from the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) in March 2011 at CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. You may view the recent award plaques, as well as many others received in past years, displayed in our main lobby. TRINA MERCIER RECEIVES JEANNETTE G. MORIN AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CREDIT UNION EMPLOYEE At the Annual Awards banquet for the Maine Credit Union League held in Augusta in May, Trina Mercier was honored for her accomplishments by her peers and associates from among more than 2,000 credit union employees. Described as a “Jill of all trades” by her co-workers, Trina has worked a variety of positions since joining the Credit Union in 1996. She has been a teller, a computer clerk, operations specialist and her current position of Assistant Vice President of Operations. One of the accolades included in Trina’s nomination was her “sense of humor and willingness to do whatever is necessary to help our members.” Congratulations, Trina! cREDiT union awaRDS GRanT FoR SuMMER REaDinG pRoGRaMCentral Maine CU has awarded its Summer Reading Grant to the Auburn Public Library for their 2011summer reading program “One World, Many Stories” which will provide a fun and interactive way for children to enjoy books and learn about far away places. The grant is awarded to programs that encourage reading and literacy in children during the summer months. The grant is open to all public and school libraries in Androscoggin County.

2011 DoMinic J. RouX MEMoRiaL SchoLaRShipNicole Smith is the recipient of the 2011 Dominic J. Roux Memorial Scholarship. A 2011 graduate of Leavitt High School. Nicole will be attending the University of New Hampshire in Durham this Fall.
