History

1885 Sydney Evershed first made electrical measuring instrument. Later Co-founded by Sydney Evershed (1858-1939) and Ernest Vignoles purchased the instrument section of Goolden and

Trotter where they worked together and founded Evershed & Vignoles Limited based in London England. First electrical tester was owned by

them, wherein they also moved in acquiring several other electronic devices patents. First Insulation tester was named to be megha ohm meter and later Megger which became company trademark name by

1903 and was known to all engineers by 1920. Over the years Megger has acquired several other major electrical test and measurement

manufacturing companies both in the USA and UK. These companies now operate under the Megger name and include the well known

Building Wiring Range Megger test and measurement instruments play a major role in

performing safety evaluation checks on electrical wiring and other components during building construction, routine maintenance or

electrical system installation and redesign. They offer a wide range of rugged, handheld instruments for applications such as battery testing, insulation testing, earth testing, hi-pot testing, quality

acceptance and maintenance testing of critical equipments.

Electric Power Range Routine maintenance of electrical apparatus within a substation or

power plant facility is essential in order to increase safety to personnel, reduce the risk of catastrophic failure, and prevent

financial losses associated with equipment replacement costs and electrical service disruption. Megger assists in ensuring a safe and reliable electrical system, and in helping an operation anticipate plant

equipment problems, by providing the instruments necessary for testing and analyzing electrical apparatus performance.

Communications Range Many different tests are conducted to ascertain whether a voice or

data system is fully operational or to locate an underground or overhead cable fault. From basic POTS testing, DSL pre-qualification, fiber optic installation and verification, structured wiring testing, LAN

testing, cable fault locating, to testing the integrity of communication, power, or control cables, Megger provides a range of portable

instruments that will provide quick and accurate results.
