Bandage:A bandage is a piece of material

used either to support a medicaldevice such as a dressing or splint, oron its own to provide support to thebody.

Bandages are available in a wide

range of types, from generic clothstrips, to specialized shapedbandages.

Methods that have been adapted for thesuccessful accomplishment of the project.-First step

Detailed study of topic, its types, usage, principle andprocedure.-Second step

We use these information for fulfilling the outlined

objectives. The assimilation and understanding of thisknowledge will help in various ways in which theobjectives can successfully be worked to conclusion.

Primary method:- Observations- Interviews- Questionnaire was made and was filled by differentpeople.

Secondary method:Secondary methods used for data collection were:- Books- Internet- Magazines

Data Analysis:The data is done through simple documentation

supported by data sets, pictorial representation.

Questionnaire was thoroughly analyzed.Project by: Apurv, Arunima | FP Tech | NIFT-Bengaluru

Basically material used for manufacturing bandages arecotton woven fabric, some bandages too uses nylon in someelement.

Anti microbial and anti bacterial materials are used forfinishing. Elasticity to create pressure, Water repelling elements are

    too used. Applications-

    - Control bleeding- Prevent infection and contamination- Absorbs blood and wound drainage- Protect the wound from further injury

The woven fabric, not only contains impurities, includingwarp size, but requires further treatment in order to developits full medical textile potential by applying one or more

finishing processes:- Scouring- Bleaching- Calendaring- Softening

    - Other functional finishing like Coating, Spraying, Padding and HygieneFinishing.

Existing Gauze Bandage are skinny transparent fabric withloose open fabric due to softness, high absorbent andbreathable.

Proposed Model have:- Low friction attained by change in weave and double layer.- Anti-Microbial finish by neem oil treatment on skin facinglayer.- Water repellant finish by Fluoro carbon resin.

We studied about the Medical bandages in our project.Through this we came to know about the history, types, brands, materials used and their properties.

We studied various famous brands of bandages in India andabroad.

The plasters & bandages market is led by adhesivebandages

*Johnson & Johnson is the market leader with a58.1% share

    of the market.

A frictionless bandage system would allow the patientgreater mobility by allowing movement.

Low friction bandages can protect the slowly healing wound

    from deeper injuries.

Use of fluoro resins for finishing impart water repellency andsoil resistance. Without affecting the air permeability orbreathability of the fabric.

Neem oil finishing imparts insect control, antimicrobial andmedicinal properties to the bandage.

Material Science- We came to know about Material used forbandages and their properties and materials to be used forour hypothetical model.

Fabric Science- It helped us in understanding properties ofdifferent fibers, yarns, weaves, fabrics used for bandages.

Geometry- It helped us in understanding geometricalaspects of bandages, their packaging and in surface

    development of the hypothetical model.

Field Study- It helped in having a scientific and systematicapproach toward our survey, asking people regardingbandage types and usage.
