These two magazines are similar in the effect that they both use bright colours in the front covers, which makes it more attention grabbing and appealing to the audience. They both have women on their front covers, which is another comparison. They both have the name ‘college’ on their magazine, in bold fonts. Both these magazines have bold mastheads, and cover lines. Another comparison would be that they both portray their main cover lines, for example, in ‘College’ it would be ‘TATTOOS!’ and in ‘My College’ it would be ‘CLASS OF 2009’. Compare any two of the following magazine front covers, stating what magazine codes and conventions you like.

This is my first draft front cover of my magazine and I have improved it with the feedback that I had received from my school magazine peer feedback. I firstly chose to use this font because I thought that it was simple and appropriate for a school magazine as well as the other fonts and colours that are portrayed in this first draft. Therefore using my peer feedback I changed it and made an improved second draft.

This is my school magazine peer feedback, in which I received feedback in which will help my first draft front cover look more effective and clear as well as attention grabbing to the students who want to read this. I took on board the positive comments and also on the constructive criticism and make improvements to my first draft if they were necessary. I changed the fonts and the colours into more bold ones do that the front cover can be more attractive to the audience.

This is my second draft of my front cover and I have made the necessary changes and improvements that I have received from feedback. These changes included the Masthead and the different fonts within my front cover. I changed the font of the Masthead because I thought it was plain and not vibrant enough for the audience to read. I also changed it because its not bold enough either. I also chose to change the colours from blue to pink, because the pink matches with the folder that she is holding and this is effective because I wanted to represent that she is within the school environment and therefore this theme is portrayed through the props in this magazine front cover. The fact that she’s holding a bag and a folder and on the staircase is effective in addition to this.

Before…This is the image that we were given at first to practice on Photoshop. We had to make this picture look smooth and even, and this was how the picture looked like previously.

After……And this is how the picture looks now. I used a variety of different tools and made sure that this image was flawless and unblemished.
