‘Get to Know the Band’As usual in this sec-tion we will be asking the questions you ‘the readers’ sent in.

Why the name AFIS?‘Well it all goes back to when we first meet as we both realised we were huge fans of the CSI program so we wanted a little joke to do with that’ said Mickle Ammp, ‘thats when my dad, who’s an ex-cop, suggested a few terms and AFIS - Automated Fingerprint Identification System just stuck’ commented Brian Strap.

What music inspired you?‘Thats a hard ques-tion...’ began Mickle. ‘I guess its been a va-riety of things really, we’ve been inspired by the likes of Rise Against, Evanescence

and Nick Cave’ contin-ues Brian Strap. ‘But at the same time we also like Kiss, Led Zeppe-lin, ACDC and Queen’ states Mickle.

What is it like on tour?‘Its fantastic... we get free food, get to see the country and get free stuff’ said Mickle. ‘And of course we get to play our music with some of our heroes and other great artists’ continued Brian.

What advice would you give those looking to start a band?‘It’s hard, and we mean really hard’ started Mickle ‘but so worth it, just be prepared’ continues Brian.

How long have you dreamed of being professional musicians?‘Since we were five or six, since that first moment I picked up that guitar I knew what I wanted to do with the rest of my life’ answered Mick-le. ‘it was only when Mickle convinced me to join him did I real-ly let myself dream, I mean I always thought it would be nice but I was actually going to be a scientist’ replied Brian.

If you were trapped on a dessert island what three records would you take?‘I think i’d have to choose Savior by Rise against, Beyond the stars by Evans Blue and Made Of Stone by Evanescence’ an-swered Mickle. ‘While I think I would have to say Queen’s Bohemi-an rhapsody, ACDC‘s Back in Black and Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven’ replied Brian.

What is it like being famous?‘I still can’t believe its happened.... I mean I used to dream of being a rockstar, now I wake up and I am one... it was a dream, now it’s reality. I just can’t get over the shock’ claimed Mickle. ‘I think its great that new bands can still enter

the industry without being crushed by the big names’ Brian.

Band HistoryLead singer and guitarist Mickle Ammp was raised in Peterborough and began playing music at a young age, since then his passion has only grown as he became fluent in the Piano, trumpet, flute and guitar. In 2007 he auditions for Britons got talent where he met Brian Strap, a local boy who was gifted with the gui-tar but lacked vo-cals. After the two where rejected, with harsh criti-cism from Simon Cowl, they decided to work together in an attempt to cor-rect the flaws they had apart.Now in 2013 they have emerged in to the spotlight as one of the most ‘up and coming’ art-ists of the year and we expect to see much more of them in the next through months.
