• In the All-time club standings of the EHF Champions League, Barcelona are on top with 190 wins, 17 draws and 46 defeats in 253 matches. Veszprem are third with 155 victories, 12 draws and 64 defeats after nine rounds of the current group phase.

• The match is the only pairing in Group A, including two Spanish coaches (Javier Sabate/Veszprem vs Xavi Pascual/Barcelona), while in Group B three teams have on Spanish coaches.

• Barcelona’s Czech left back Filip Jicha is the only former IHF World Handball Player of the Year (2010) on court.

• The 29:28 loss against Paris Saint-Germain on 20 November 2016 was Veszprem’s first Champions League home defeat since the 29:28 against THW Kiel in the 2012/13 quarter-finals.

• The last duel of both on Hungarian soil ended in a 30:26 win for the hosts, in the Last16 of the 2010/11 season, when Barcelona finally became VELUX EHF Champions League winner.
