Portfolio 101

What

IS A portfolio?

Your portfolio is a selection of work that

shows your skills and talents.

It introduces you and your ideas, and shows us you have the creativity and imagination

to be a student at Media Design School.

What

DO I NEED TO include?

Be sure to include a range of images that show

different techniques and skills, not just digital work!

If you can be sure to include examples of drawing and

painting.

HOW MANY

PIECES OF WORK DO YOU WANT TO SEE?

Be selective and aim for 12-20 pieces of

work in total. Think about your selection … and

include the best works that represent who you are as a creative person.

Make sure you make copies of your work to

send to us! Photocopies,

photographs or digital copies…

Please don’t send in your original artwork as we cannot

return it to you.

Include LARGE IMAGES of good

resolution so we can see your amazing talents…

WHAT

ABOUT A COVER PAGE?

Include descriptions on each page or on one contents page … these should detail:

•  TITLE • Design BRIEF or purpose of the work • DATE it was completed • MEDIA or computer programs used

Remember to number each page!

Secure your pages with a CLIP or insert into a PLAIN

A4 ENVELOP with your name and course applying for.

Please do not permanently bind or staple pages or submit it in a clear file

(they make it really hard for us to really look at your work!).

Can I

SUBMIT MY PORTFOLIO DIGITALLY?

If you are working in Moving Image / Video you can include a DVD or USB flash drive, or a

link to your online portfolio. Each file should be included in

your total of 12-20 pieces of work…

Eg. Two moving image files + 13 A4 printed examples

= 15 pieces of work

Make sure you clearly label all of your work…

NAME, EMAIL/ PHONE NUMBER, QUALIFICATION YOU ARE APPLYING FOR… Also label your DVD or flash drive.

HOW do I

SEND IT TO YOU?

Portfolios can be dropped off to Media Design

School or sent through Courier or Post to…
