Stephen Shore: The Ordinary In Color

Stephen Shore 1947-

“I would be in a flat nowhere place of the earth, and every now and then I would walk outside or be driving down a road and the light would hit something and for a few minutes the place would be transformed.” Stephen Shore, from his book Uncommon Places.

Britain's Phiadon Press called Shore “a pioneer in the use of colour photography in the 1970s.” His images are “attentive to ordinary scenes of daily experience, yet through color--and composition--Shore transforms the mundane into subjects of thoughtful meditation,” according to The J. Getty Paul Getty Museum.
