Obituary (Ancestry.com) The ‘Forbes Advocate’
30th October 1917
Eugowra district lost a worthy representative on the west front within the last month, for word came through on Friday that Private Robert Bruce McMillan, son of the late Archibald and Mrs McMillan of Rosebank, has paid the supreme sacrifice in France. The news came as a shock to all his friends ... For no soldier who has left Forbes district was held in greater respect than “Bob” McMillan. He was one of the men a district can ill afford to lose ... The late Private McMillan took part in heavy fighting in France and was close to his brother Vivian when the latter was killed in action. It was a sad ending to a promising life but his relatives may rest
assured that he was game to the last.
