McDevitt DayScholarshipsMcDevitt Scholarship
The McDevitt Scholarship is our most prestigious transfer scholarship. It is a two-year full tuition, room and board
scholarship which includes a small book stipend and out-of-state fees, if applicable. Three McDevitt scholarships are awarded each year to deserving students. Recipients are
required to participate in the Honors College.
University Transfer ScholarshipThe University Transfer Scholarship is our second most
prestigious transfer scholarship. The amount of this award varies, but the average award is between $2,000 and $5,000 for two years. Regional scholarships are given if
applicable. This scholarship can be stacked with Phi Theta Kappa and All USA/All-State Academic
Team scholarships.
Hearin ScholarshipThe Hearin Leadership Program at MUW is a rich and
academically challenging program that prepares students to become tomorrow’s leaders by focusing on scholar-
ship, leadership development and community service. The amount of this award varies between $1,000 and $2,500
and may be renewed based on the recipient’s participation in the Hearin Leadership Program.
EligibilityIn order to participate in McDevitt Day and compete for scholar-ships, students must meet the following eligibility requirements:
• Meet transfer admissions requirements • Have a minimum transferable GPA of 3.5 (2.5 for Hearin) • Will have completed 48 transferable hours prior to enrolling at MUW • Have never attended a four-year institution
Application ProcedureTo apply for the McDevitt, University Transfer and Hearin scholarships students must submit the following to the Office of Admissions by a priority deadline of March 12, 2010:
• McDevitt Day Application • Official transcripts from all community or junior colleges attended • Letter or recommendation from a counselor or Phi Theta Kappa advisor • McDevitt Questionnaire (can be found on our web site) • One-page essay on “What is your true passions in life and how has it affected you?”
