I t inerary The groom and guests gather at Mcheza Sports Café at Mtoni Marine for welcome dr inks (opt ional) . From here they board a bus and make their way to Mbweni Ruins through the streets of h istor ic Stone Town. Arr iv ing at Mbweni Ruins, the guests wi l l walk through the tropical palm gardens to the stunningly decorated ruins of St . Mary’s Chapel . They wi l l be served water and ju ice as refreshments. The groom and guests await the arr ival of the br ide. The br ide arr ives, accompanied by a solo v io l in ist and the ceremony takes place.

During the ceremony, a 20 strong Swahi l i choir s ings, re jo ic ing the union in KiSwahi l i . Af ter the ceremony, a glass of bubbly is served to toast and congratulate the wedding couple. Guests s lowly make their way down to the jet ty, through the botanical gardens for which Mbweni is famous. Sugarcane ju ice and Zanzibar Pizza are served on the jet ty in Forodhani n ight market sty le. Guests walk down the long jet ty, past the mangroves, where they board the t radi t ional dhows and sai l towards Stone Town. The dhow is accompanied by the sound of l ive Afr ican jazz music. The sai ls are hoisted, the ‘kusi ’ winds f i l l the canvas and push north past Stone Town bay and past the old Dhow harbour.

Embrace the sunset over looking Bawe and Pr ison Is land and celebrate the union whi le s ipping sundowners. Dest inat ion, Mtoni Marine Restaurant; f rom afar you can see the bonf i res on the beach. Disembarking the dhows on the sands of Bei t i l Mtoni , the wedding party is welcomed with the fest ive s ight and sounds of Afr ican Ngoma Drummers and Dancers. The party is seated at candlel i t tables, on the beach front which is natural ly l i t wi th burning torches, lanterns and open bonf i res.

The Restaurant at Mtoni Marine is open just for you - d ine with feet in the sand under the starry skies to a Seafood Fiesta. Chocolate brownie wedding cake ( to die for) is served. After dinner, dance to the tunes mixed by the DJ on the sea sand dance f loor…
