System Thinking Concept
1) The purpose:
• Advanced customized solution for automotive dealers. 2) Component:
– VMS Purchasing– VMS – Used Car Evaluation– VMS Quotations– VMS Reservations– VMS Sales Orders– VMS Vehicle Delivery– VMS Price Lists
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
Component
VMS Purchasing
• Orders can be sent to supplier electronically
• suppliers invoices can be loaded electronically
• also Data can also be downloaded from suppliers secure web-sites

System Thinking Concept
3) Interrelated Component• The relation between subsystems exist. There is a tightly integrated and
share on data base to make it easier to share data and information between systems.
4) Interface

System Thinking Concept
5) EnvironmentVehicle companiesEX, Mohamed Naser Al-Sayer & Sons TOYOTA
6) BoundaryThe computer screen and shows the data and the information or reports.
7) Constraints • Only AlDhow company users are allowed to use this VMS• Unauthorized users cant access or change data because of security aspects
used in VMS.• Sensitive data such as costs can be hidden for those users who don’t need
to see it.
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
System Thinking Concept
8) Input
• The workers basically enter a new data like Orders from users for IS
depending on their requirements and standards 9) Output• generates customer follow-up reports
– Cars details– Cars save in Inventory

SDLC Approach
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
Planning
•describe their project scope and alternatives and feasibility
•estimating resources and creating resource plan
•developing a preliminary schedule and budget
•developing a communication plan.
•determining project standards and procedures
•identifying and assessing possible risk
•developing a statement of work
•setting a baseline project plan.
SDLC Approach
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
Analysis
• try to individually interview people informed about the operation
• issues of the current system and future system needs
• interview groups of people with diverse needs
• Studying business documents to discover reported issues, policies, and directions
SDLC Approach
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
Design:
There are steps that the VMS will follow to design the logical data model
• Develop a logical data model for each known user interface
• Combine normalization data requirements from all users interfaces into one consolidated logical database model
• Translate the conceptual data model for the application, developed without explicit consideration of specific user interfaces, into normalized data requirements
SDLC Approach
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
As for the physical model design, VMS will have to decide about:
•Choosing the storage format for each attribute from the logical database model •Grouping attributes from the logical database model into physical records
•Arranging related records in secondary memory so that individual's records and groups of records can be stored, retrieved, and updated rapidly.
•Selecting media and structures for storing data to make access more efficient.
SDLC Approach
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
Implementations:VMS in this stage of the SDLC
• will be coding, testing, installing, documentation, training, and supporting.
The purpose of these steps is to convert the physical system specifications into working and reliable software and hardware ,
Analysts are responsible for ensuring that all of these various activities are properly planned and executed
SDLC Approach
Kuwait University – College of Business Administration – Dep. Of Management Information System
Maintenances
It is here where VMS's SDLC becomes a cycle, with the last activity leading back to the first. VMS will consider four main activities within maintenance:
•Obtaining maintenance requests •Transforming requests into changes •Designing changes •Implementing changes
