• Panch-mahal means "five tehsils/talukas" (5 sub-divisions), and refers to the five sub-divisions namely - Godhra, Dahod, Halol, Kalol and Jhalod that were transferred by the Maharaja Sindia of Gwalior to the British
• Panchmahal has a village named Champaner which is a World Heritage Site.
• Pavagarh hosts a temple of Kalika mata, whose holy shrine attracts about two million pilgrims per annum.

MBPCE as CTE : History
• Established as STTC in the year 1960 to cater to the needs of trained Secondary level teachers in the Central Gujarat.
• The institution started functioning with 1 Principal and 8 faculty members with an initial intake of 87 Students in B.Ed one year (Full time) programme.
• In 1961 college offered M.Ed (Full time) course with the intake of 8 Students. Thereafter, M.Ed (Part time) course was offered to 40-50 teachers and T.D (Full time) to 30 Students. Along with 3 degree courses, 3 certificate courses were also conducted for Students as well as teachers.
• In the year 1966, the college started a four year integrated B.Sc.B.Ed course to cater the needs of trained Science teachers in Gujarat. Implementation of different programmes and varied courses was enriched with 25 faculty members.
MBPCE as CTE : Gradual Development
•From the outset its special feature is conducting
(A) Pre-service Education (B) In-service Educationn(C) Extension service and(D) Research
• Upgraded as CTE by MHRD in 1988, under the implementation of NEP (1986).
• At present, as a CTE, the institution conduct B.Ed program for 200 Students with 1 Principal and 14 Faculty.
Fulfillment of faculty posts • At the time of Inception of CTE, 1 Reader & 1 Lecturer were
exclusively appointed for CTE Scheme. • Those two faculty members were merged in the regular faculty of
M.B.Patel College of Education due to discontinuation of recurring grant for CTE.
• Hence, at present no separate / special staff is available for CTE programme.

Infrastructure Facilities, Laboratories, Hostels
• Built up area 2346.99m2 in the total land area of 3472m2
• Adequate infrastructural facilities as per NCTE norms. • Equipped with total 36 rooms including 1 Central Hall having
capacity of accommodating 225 people, 1 Conference Room, 2 Big Halls,3 laboratories (Psychology , Computer and Science ) and a rich library with a reading room.
• CTE hostel for Male student-teachers which has 27 rooms and can accommodate 81 students .
• Ladies Hostel Which has 102 rooms and can accommodate 318 Students
• B.Sc.B.Ed hostel for the boys has 72 rooms from which some are now offered as Quarters to University employees.
• A separate facility of Staff Quarters for all of its employees• 4 Government Hostel for the reserved category students.• The facilities of University Health Centre with nominal case fees of
Rs.1/- for The employees of the University and students.• Teachers invited for in-service education are being accommodation in
these hostels and University guest house with nominal fees of Rs. 50 /- per day.

Teaching – Learning Pedagogy
• Regular theory teaching of Core Papers contains discussion mode.
• No 100% lecture method or dictation is entertained.
• Student-teachers are encouraged to work in groups and pairs while learning.
• The teacher- talk is minimized by making the student teachers share their views, express opinions, solve problems, generate ideas.
• Theoretical teaching points are connected with the practical life.
• Regular feedback and follow up work is regularised.
Evaluation
•The marks of the various Submissions, term end examinations are shared immediately after the evaluation of the Submission.
•If a student’s performance is found poor or not up to the mark, S /he to perform better by resubmitting the submission or retracing the lesson.
•The marks of the lessons (Practice teaching) are immediately given along with the constructive feedback.
Practice Teaching (Innovations)Micro Teaching
• Orientation of various skills are given separately.• Demonstration lessons of selected skills are given
method-wise.• Skill-specific guidance is given to plan the Lessons in
small groups.• Mutual observation in pairs is executed wherein
feedback is shared.• Reflective discussions within small groups are carried
out.• Teach-re-teach sessions are conducted for each student-
