  • MBA employment reportGRADUATING CLASS OF 2020

  • London Business School MBA employment report 2020 Introduction from the Head of Career Centre 2

Introduction from the Head of Career CentreWe are delighted that 90% of our MBA2020 graduates accepted job offers within four months of graduation*. This last year has clearly been one of the toughest on record for business school graduates, and we are proud that our students shone across the board. For all graduates, employment markets were challenging for the best part of 2020; yet, supported by Career Centre, the enthusiasm, commitment and determination of our 2020 cohort prevailed to help them identify and land attractive and fulfilling opportunities.

Demand for our talent continues to transcend borders, sectors and markets. Our 2020 class – encompassing 60 nationalities – secured roles in 39 different countries around the world, with 42% choosing to start their post-programme careers in the UK.

Consulting remained the most popular sector with 40% of graduates choosing this field, with tech now becoming the second most popular at 28%, and 44% of our first-year MBA’s also choosing to complete internships in this sector. A further 29 graduates are using the entrepreneurial skillsets developed through the MBA to pursue their own

business ventures, while finance also remains an attractive destination for our graduates, with 21% choosing to go into this sector.

I am confident that having dealt with so much uncertainty over the last 12 months and having overcome so many challenges with such collaborative spirit, this group of successful students are prepared to kick-start their newfound professional careers with a fearless and selfless mindset that will serve them well in years to come. My colleagues and I look forward to following their journey as they have an impact on the way the world does business. We wish them, and the organisations they have joined, or founded themselves, all the very best.

“ The MBA inspired me to build inclusive and diverse teams, and gave me the skills to build these teams and the knowledge of how they can contribute to an organisation. Moving into a Head of Operations role, the breadth of hard skills we covered on the programme allows me to understand what is being said in a room of C-suite stakeholders. The LBS Career Centre also had loads of great resources and held really valuable events; I really benefited from the coaching sessions they offered and the independent support of the Career Centre team.”Lucy Chaplin, MBA2020, Head of Operations, Eva Health Technologies

*Three-month accepted rate 88%, exceptionally reported at four months (August-November 2020) due to market conditions. Data in the remainder of this report is calculated in line with three-month reporting.

“ The London Business School MBA is the sole reason that I was able to change industry, function and geography. Throughout the programme, I built an academic and professional network that now allows me to be more effective in my role and that gives me the confidence to take on challenges outside my comfort zone. Staying focused on my goal to build a career in innovation finance would have been much harder without the support of the coaches at the LBS Career Centre. Their hands-on advice helped me to gain perspective and to fine-tune my approach throughout internships with three venture capital firms.”Chris Knedel, MBA2020, Innovations and Ventures Manager, NEOM
