GPS A ND MULT I M EDI A QU ICK S TA RT GU IDE
Inside you’ll find everything you need to know about your BT-50’s connectivity.
Your in-dash system includes navigation, Bluetooth,® music connectivity and more.
Your system supports various multimedia formats including MP3, WMA, AAC,
FLAC, AVI, MKV and MP4. It also connects with various external storage devices
including iPhones and iPods via USB. The system is easy to use and is designed
to make your driving experience as enjoyable and safe as possible.
L E T ’S GE T YOU ON YOUR WAY
Turning it on
If this is your first use, press the power button lightly to turn
your system on.
If the unit was turned off by removing the key from the
ignition, it will turn on automatically by inserting the key
again and turning to the accessory position.
If you pressed the MENU hard key on the panel to turn off
the unit last time, press any button to turn the unit on again.
Turning it off
Turning the ignition key to Off will turn off the system.
If the ignition is still on, hold the MENU hard key down for
more than 5 seconds to turn the system off.
Home page menu
When you turn the system on, it returns to the last screen
displayed before the system was turned off.
To get to the main menu, press the MENU hard key below the
screen. To navigate, touch the icons in the menu to enter in
the desired function.
Touch screen
To navigate away from the current screen, swipe the
display lightly with your finger in the direction of your
desired menu item.
Dual screen function
Displays Navigation and Audio/Visual modes side by
side so you can access your music while following
Sat Nav directions.
To initiate dual screen mode from the Audio/Visual
display, swipe to the left or press the navigation arrow
on the right.
From the Navigation display, swipe to the right or press
the musical note button on the left of the display.
You can also switch which side the displays appear
onscreen using the button.
When pairing for the first time:
1. Press the MENU hard key
2. Touch Setup
3. Select Wireless at the top of the screen
4. Touch the Search icon on one of the No Device lines
5. Touch Audio, Hands-free or Both for the device you want to connect
from the list of search results
6. When the device is successfully paired, a message appears before
the system returns to normal mode
Up to five phones can be paired to the system. Simply follow the steps above for each.
If your mobile phone is Bluetooth® enabled, it can connect with the system to make and
answer calls, access your contacts and wirelessly play your music.

Making and receiving a call
Touch Phone in the menu screen to display
the phone menu.
Calling
From the phone menu, select a phone number from the
Recents or Contacts tabs or enter a phone number
through the Keypad tab, then touch Call.
Answering
When there is an incoming call – from any mode –
you will see an incoming call notification screen
and the audio will switch to an incoming ring sound.
Answer by pressing the button on the
steering wheel or by touching the incoming
call notification screen.
Decline the call by touching Decline on the screen.
End the call by long-pressing
the button on the steering wheel
or by touching End Call on the screen.

R A DIO A ND MUSIC
Music, news, sports, podcasts or radio – it’s all easily accessible for your entertainment.
DAB+ digital radio
DAB+ digital radio delivers exceptional sound quality and
clear reception. It also offers news and weather updates
and a broad range of stations.
To listen, choose DAB+ as the audio source, open the
mode selection menu and tap the tuning symbol
to seek channels.
Bluetooth® music
If your phone supports Bluetooth® audio
streaming you can play audio from your phone
through the car speakers.
To connect, ensure your phone’s Bluetooth® is
turned on.
Press the MENU hard key, swipe to the right and
press ‘Bluetooth Audio’.
Access your favourite music or audio app on your
smartphone and control the track via your display.
A PPL E C A R PL AY® A ND A NDROID® AU TO
If you have a compatible iPhone or Android phone your BT-50 is ready to connect it with Apple CarPlay®
or Android® Auto. These functions allow you to control selected apps on your phone with your BT-50
colour screen. You can listen to music and podcasts, use your phone’s navigation function and more.
Getting access to Apple CarPlay®*
• Plug your iPhone into the into the CarPlay port using
a Lightning to USB cable.
• Press the MENU button on the screen.
• Touch Apple CarPlay.®
• Apple CarPlay® is now activated. Touch the desired app
icon on your BT-50 screen or use the Siri function by
pressing the VOICE button.
Activating Android® Auto^
• Download the Android® Auto app from the Google Play
store to your smartphone.
• Plug your smartphone into the BT-50’s USB connector
then follow the prompts to connect your smartphone
with the BT-50.
• Press the MENU button on the screen.
• Touch Android® Auto.
• Android® Auto is now activated. Touch the desired app
icon on your BT-50 screen to use.
* Can only be used on iPhone5 or later and some functions may not be available while driving.
^ Please check the compatibility of your device (particularly your mobile phone) with your Mazda Dealer as not all devices support connectivity or use of all available features.
CONNEC TI V IT Y
The unit supports wireless audiovisual playback from compatible Bluetooth® devices including iPods and
iPhones. It also supports playback from plug-in sources including USB drives, HDMI and AUX inputs.
To play from a plug-in source:
1. Connect the source to the input port in the dash
board above the display.
2. Access the Source (USB, HDMI or AUX) by pressing
the MENU hard key or swiping up from the bottom
of the display.
3. Depending on the source type you will then be able
to control the audio or visual playback via the display.
To connect to an iPod/iPhone, a separately sold Lightning
to USB cable is required.
Note: When connected to the unit by cable, the controls
on the iPod are disabled.
Using voice recognition function
1. Press the VOICE button or long press on the steering wheel.
2. Say aloud the name or number of the contact
as it appears in your phone’s stored contacts.
3. To finish the Voice control mode, touch X or
press the VOICE button.

Whether you’re taking a family holiday or travelling for business, your vehicle’s navigation system will help
guide you to your chosen destination.
Getting started
Press the navigation button to open the navigation screen.
Audio
Press the music button to open the music screen or
swipe from the left of the navigation screen to show split
screen music/navigation. When there is no voice prompts
from navigation, you can enjoy music normally. When there
are navigation voice prompts, the system will override with
navigation guidance by dropping the volume level of the music.
To ensure the safety of yourself and others please be mindful
of local traffic laws and regulations while Bluetooth® or
any other options are operational. For safety and correct
operation, this product must be installed by a professional.
Do not disassemble or repair the system by yourself to
avoid an accident or damage to the system. The screen
of this product uses precision electronic structure.
To avoid damage, do not hit the TFT display. In order
to use this product correctly and safely, please read the
BT-50 Infotainment System User’s Manual carefully.
* XTR & GT models with 8-inch screen only.
