PRESIDENTS MESSAGE

I hope everyone is doing well and staying

healthy. This year has been unusual and

trying. Many events have been canceled.

The cancellation of the Kalamazoo Living

History show was a big disappointment.

Understandable but disappointing. That is

such a social gathering after the winter

layoff. The first get together of the season

for many of us.

The show is also the largest sales spot for

our state raffle tickets. We did well at

Lapeer at the Firelocks show. If you want

tickets, see the article further down for

information. We will get them to you.

As of this time, we are still a go for the

state rifle and shotgun shoots. The

territorial shotgun shoot has been

postponed and hopefully will be

rescheduled.

Has anyone been out turkey hunting?

Any success? Please send pictures and a

story in for next month’s newsletter. Share

your fun and success, or failure if you miss

as I did last year.

Make sure to call ahead and verify any

event you want to attend is scheduled.

Several June shoots have been canceled

already. This has been an unsettling time

that hopefully will clear up soon. Take care,

This year’s raffle gun is a 45 cal Armstrong

rifle built by Steve Byers. We also have a

shooting bag with it from trader Bill at

Springbrook trading post. There is also a

range rod and jag from Anson and Judy at

Kenockee traders. We also have an

accessory kit with tools from Jim Spittler.

Since we were not able to sell tickets at

Kalamazoo and several shoots have been

canceled, ticket sales are light. This

increases the odds for those with tickets. If

you would like to get tickets, we will happily

assist you. Contact me and I will sell you as

many as you want.

REGISTRATION TRAILER A new registration trailer has been

purchased this May. Ron and Erick

Hoskinson traveled to Elkhart to look at it

and it was everything that they said it was

and what we needed. Thank you to David

Maddox and Randy Marines for the trip to

Elkhart to pick it up. They have delivered it

to Lansing and it will be ready for the 2021

MSMLA Rifle/Pistol Championship.
