Don’t forget Memorial Pool will be opening June 7th and the new splash park at Kurtzman Park, which is designed for all ages, will be in full swing this summer. Crossfit - Ages 13-17Crossfit Unrestrained Teens is a strength and conditioning pro-gram designed for teen athletes and non-athletes alike. The pro-gram combines age as well as skill appropriate weight lifting and gymnastics with high intensity training to deliver optimal fitness and performance, while establishing a love for fitness. All activities are performed under the watchful eye of a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. “I Can” - Girls Ages 7-12This program is a cooperative effort between Pasco Recreation Services and the Pasco Police Department. This program provides a wonderful opportunity for young girls to build self-confidence, de-velop communication skills, and learn how to effectively deal with peer pressure. Throughout the course of the program, participants will work directly with community leaders that will help them to build a firm foundation for their success. Musical First Steps - 3-5 yrsMusical First Steps will use rhymes and songs to en-hance a child’s ability to communicate, learn and cre-ate during the crucial first five years, when brain de-velopment is at its peak. This program preserves the rich repertoire of traditional and folk songs to enable families to recall and learn songs and rhymes that have nurtured wonder and joy in young people for generations. Life Guard Training - Ages 15+Looking for a great summer job to do while in high school and higher education? Lifeguarding could be the answer. The American Red Cross Lifeguarding course will help you develop skills and experience that will be valued by colleges and future employers. It’s a great way to demonstrate what you can offer. Colleges and employers look for applicants who can deal effectively with people, who have a take charge attitude, and who are willing to work to develop new skills. Upon successful completion of this course, you will be certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR/AED for Lifeguards. Please note that passing of the LGT course does not guarantee employment. Red Cross Lifeguarding manual and CPR mask are included in the training fee and will be handed out upon passing the Pre-Course Swim Test.Steps to becoming a certified Lifeguard:

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board advises the City Council and the City Manager on matters pertaining to the planning, de-velopment, improvement, beautification, equipping and maintain-ing of public parks, playgrounds, recreation facilities and resources. The council meets at 5:30 pm on the 1st Thursday of each month at Pasco City Hall, 525 N. 3rd Avenue, classroom 1.
