the first time. We ask that you pray for these young people as they prepare to receive

the Sacrament of Holy Communion: Diego & Lucas Coronado, Abraham Garcia,

Madison Simone, Karla, Karina & Alexis Valdez and Josue Vasquez.

In today’s scripture readings, we hear the teachings of Jesus Christ from Paul (Saul) and John. Paul went out throughout the land and preached the message to all who would listen. When one group, the Hellenists, tried to kill him other disciples quick-ly sent him to Tarsus. Paul, who was not Jewish, was so convincing about his faith that “with the con-solation of the Holy Spirit it (Christianity) grew in numbers” and all people lived in peace. John’s letter proclaims “let us love not in word or speech but in deed and truth.” What the mind knows so shall the heart. He told the people to “love one another just as he (Jesus) commanded us.” Today’s Gospel from John tells of Jesus us-ing vines and branches to illustrate the strength of his existence. Jesus is the vine and all followers are the branches. The vine is strong and provides suste-nance to the branches in the same way that Jesus of-fers nourishment through the Word of God and sug-gested actions such as the Sacraments. Just as the vine withers if it is not fed with water and nutrients, we will “wither” in spirit and voice and succumb to the will of the devil. A healthy vine bears fruit but a withered vine is good only for fuel. Although fuel is important, the role of a vine and braches is to of-fer physical sustenance. .John further tells us that if we remain in God, God will remain in us. So we ask ourselves: • Do we allow our words and action to come to-

gether to create a better world for all people ? • Do we use Jesus as our vine and try to get as

much sustenance as possible from his “branch” by participating in the Sacraments and pray eve-ry day?

• Do we deny the devil’s access to our “branches” by living as authentic disciples of Jesus Christ?

• In order to remain in God, do we place Jesus first and fore-most in our lives? • Do we make sure the words coming from our mouth are based on truth or do we distort the message of Jesus Christ by proclaiming false information?

En las lecturas bíbli-cas de hoy, escuchamos las enseñanzas de Jesús Cristo de Pablo (Saulo) y John. Pablo fue a lo largo de la tierra y predicaron el men-saje a todos los que desean escuchar. reunirse para crear un mundo mejor para todos? • ¿Hemos de utilizar Jesús como nuestro vid y tratar

de obtener la mayor sustento de su "sucursal" en la participación de los Sacramentos y rezar cada día?

• ¿Negamos el diablo el acceso a nuestro "sucursales" por vivir como auténticos discípulos de Jesucristo?

• ¿Con el fin de permanecer en Dios, ¿es que poner a Jesús en primer lugar en nuestras vidas?

• ¿Podemos asegurarnos de que las palabras de nues-tra boca se basan en la verdad o no que distorsionan el mensaje de Jesucristo, anunciando información falsa?
