2 May 27| The Most Holy Trinity | Year B - 2018

May 10, 2018 Dear Brothers and Sisters of Holy Family Parish: With excitement for his opportunity to study, Fr. Al will be leaving Holy Family on May 21, 2018, for Intensive Spanish Language Classes in Guatemala. We wish him well as he continues his commitment to Christ and Our Lady as a Priest of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity. God bless you Fr. Al for all of the compassionate priestly work you have done for Holy Family Church. The Sunday schedule was reduced to accommodate the anticipated reduction of priests available for Sunday and to make better use of our parish facilities. The Weekday schedule of two Masses daily remained the same as we still had two priests available each weekday. However, now that there is only one priest assigned to Holy Family Church for the foreseeable near future, the weekday Mass Schedule will also have to change from two Masses daily to only one Mass each day. The proposed weekday schedule for JUNE will be to have two early morning Masses in Spanish and two evening Masses in English. The Weekday Mass schedule is only set for JUNE and may be open to adjustments after consultation and recommendations from the parishioners and Parish Pastoral Council. Also remember that the priest gets one day off each week by church law.

THE NEW WEEKDAY MASS SCHEDULE effective June 1, 2018, is:

Monday 6:30 AM Communion Service (Spanish) for Priest’s Day off Tuesday 6:00 PM Mass (English) Wednesday 6:30 AM Mass (Spanish) 6:00 PM Eucharistic Adoration Thursday 6:00 PM Mass (English) Friday 6:30 AM Mass (Spanish) First Saturday 8:00 AM Mass (Spanish) FIRST Saturday of the month only Saturday 4:30 PM Confessions to 5:30 PM in Church Thank you for your patience and understanding as we experience these changes to our parish. They are needed due to our shortage of priests in the diocese. Please pray for more vocations to the priesthood for our diocese. Please also pray for the health and well-being of the priests serving our parishes.

Your servant in Christ, Rev. Patrick K. Donohoe, Pastor

By our baptism we are called to a discipleship that compels us to share our faith with others. It is not always easy, but it would be wrong to horde that faith and not let it shine for others to see. When we think about a stewardship way of life, we sometimes focus on material goods, our talents and skills, or our time. But faith is a gift that needs to be treated in a similar way. We are heirs with Jesus Christ to this rich tapestry of faith and the Church. If all of us were to hide that faith and not seek to share it with others, that lineage would end with us. We live during a time in history where in some lands people are finding Jesus in huge numbers, while in other places the numbers of people in the pews is declining sharply. We can spend all our time talking about these realities or we can choose to respond to our baptismal call. Jesus commanded us to go forth and make disciples of all nations. Maybe we can begin with our neighbor.

TOUGH retreat will take place July 13 - 15 at Pax Christi Liturgical Retreat Center. TOUGH is a weekend retreat for both boys and girls in high school in the Dio-cese of Corpus Christi. Please note that this retreat is for High School age Youth (9-12 Grades). Due to limited rooms the deadline to register is July 5, (or until filled). For more information visit: diocesecc.org/tough.

Dear Parishioners, PLEASE be patient and understanding as we experience this reduction in Masses. PRAY for more vocations to the Priesthood, so we can have more priests in our parishes available to celebrate more Mass Intentions. The total number of Masses a week at Holy Family Church has dropped from six Sunday Masses and ten Weekday Masses. We now have only 4 Sunday Masses and 4 Weekday Masses. On Sunday one Mass must be “For the People” and one is a “Collective Intention”. So we have gone from 14 Mass Intentions down to 6 Mass Intentions a week. Again please be patient and understanding as we enter this new phase of our parish life. Be aware that this is being done in conformity with Church Law governing Mass Intentions and not a personal issue. Please be respectful of the office staff as they are following church law and the Pastor ’s directives. Direct any issues you have with the process directly to the Pastor and not to the parish personnel. Thank you for your understanding toward my employees. Holy Family Parish now only has one priest and he normally can only celebrate ONE Mass Intention per ONE Mass per ONE Weekday. Funerals and other Special Masses can be celebrated in addition to the ONE Mass Intention. On a Weekend, Saturday and Sunday, the Pastor can celebrate: 1) the Pastor’s REQUIRED one Mass Intention – “For the People of the Parish”; 2) and then two Mass Intentions – “For Single Mass Intention” by one donor; and 3) one Mass “Collective Intentions” – several Mass Intentions by various donors combined into one Mass (all of the intentions are celebrated and the donations for such these Mass Intentions goes to support the diocesan seminarians). As of June 1, 2018 the Weekday Mass Schedule has changed to only ONE Mass per DAY. Therefore, only ONE Mass Intention can be taken per a weekday. These are some of the current actions taken to deal with the reduction of available Weekday Mass Intention spaces. **Mass Intentions for June, July and August have been rescheduled because of the Mass changes. The dates of changed Mass Intentions were set close to the families’ original dates. If the Families wish to confirm the date and time of their already scheduled Mass Intentions, or make any changes, please call the Parish office.** **(Las intenciones de Misa de Junio, Julio y Agosto han sido reprogramadas debido a los cambios en la Misa.

1. Monday had one Mass Intention, but now there is just a communion service. Mass Intentions for Mondays have gone

to the next day Tuesday (or another close date). 2. If there was only one Mass Intention for a specific date, it will be celebrated at the time Mass is scheduled on that

day. Therefore, some evening intentions have gone to the morning, and some morning intentions have gone to the evening.

a.If the date of the Mass is more important than you don’t have to do anything. b.If the time of the Mass (mornings on Wednesdays and Fridays; or evenings on Tuesdays and Thursdays) is

important so that you can attend, please contact Loretta to confirm the date and the time of your Mass Intention.

3. A Mass Intention received as a Single Mass Intention by ONE donor must remain as a Single Mass Intention. 4. A Single Mass Intention on a specific date cannot be combined with a second intention by another donor for the same date, without the office inquiring of the donor of the first intention, if a second intention may be added. This would make it a Collective Intention Mass. If agreed, then the Mass is then offered for both intentions. 5. PLEASE be patient and understanding as we experience this reduction in Masses.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Rev. Patrick K. Donohoe, Pastor

Symptoms of Asthma: Asthma is a chronic disease that inflames the airways. This means that people with asthma generally have inflammation that is long lasting and needs managing. An asthma episode, also called an asthma flare-up or asthma attack, can happen at any time. Mild symptoms may only last a few minutes while more severe asthma symptoms can last hours or days. − Coughing

− Wheezing (a whistling, squeaky sound when you breathe)

− Shortness of breath

− Rapid breathing

− Chest tightness Symptoms of Anaphylaxis: Anaphylaxis is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. It can occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to something you're allergic to, such as peanuts or bee stings. Anaphylaxis causes your immune system to release a flood of chemicals that can cause you to go into shock — your blood pressure drops suddenly and your

airways narrow, blocking breathing. Signs and symptoms include a rapid, weak pulse; a skin rash; and nausea and vomiting. Common triggers include certain foods, some medications, insect venom and latex. − Skin reactions, including hives

and itching and flushed or pale skin

− Low blood pressure

− Constriction of your airways and a swollen tongue or throat, which can cause wheezing and trouble breathing

− A weak and rapid pulse

− Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

− Dizziness or fainting

"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends." Christians are no strangers to sacrifice. Jesus lays down his life for our redemption, martyrs remain faithful to the end, and every believer faces "deaths" in the spiritual life when love requires a re-ordering of preference and priority.

On Memorial Day, we honor those who laid down their lives for their nation and for the values we espouse - freedom, justice, and a better world for our children. In a day that often fills with barbeques and boat launches, remember to take some time in prayer! Intercede for those who have died and for the loved ones they left behind, and pray for peace on earth.
