Bishop Robert Banks and Father Brian

Belongia will lead the procession on the parish grounds which will conclude with

Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament

All parishioners and visitors are invited to join the procession

to give Glory to God and thanksgiving to Our Lord Jesus

for his enduring presence among us in the Blessed Sacrament!

Please plan to attend this special celebration!

CORPUS CHRISTI PROCESSION Sunday, June 2 is Corpus Christi Sunday. Our outdoor

procession will immediately follow the 9 am Mass. Please

MARY’S GARDEN GUILD "Look on the flower, think of Mary."

The Mary's Garden Guild will plant annuals and spread

mulch in the Mary's Garden & Rosary Garden on

Saturday, June 8 from 9-Noon. (rain date is June 15) The

Mary's Gardeners would appreciate your help and you do

not even need a green thumb! Please bring shovels,

pitchforks, gloves, kneepads, wheelbarrows (for mulch) or

other tools you will need. Remember, the planting and

cultivation of a Mary's Garden fosters devotion to Mary that

always leads to Christ. Would you like to help plant flowers

for your Mother? The SFX Mary's Garden Guild always

welcomes new members and consists of novice to master

gardeners. Questions? Contact Marcy at 321-0236

The relic for veneration this week is:

Mary Magdalene of de Pazzi, feast day is May 25.

"The last thing I ask of you—and I ask it in the name of

our Lord Jesus Christ—is that you love him alone, that

you trust implicitly in him and that you encourage one

another continually to suffer for the love of him." Mary Magdalene of de Pazzi

YEAR OF FAITH

Page 4: MAY 26, 2013 25 26 2013.pdf · MAY 26, 2013 The Most Holy Trinity PARISH OFFICE 139 S. Madison, Green Bay, WI 54301-4501 Hours: Mon.-Fri. 9:30 am-4:00 pm Phone: (920) 432-4348

It is hard to believe almost a year has passed since I embarked on my journey into the mysteries of canon law. I must admit

the first semester was a bit frustrating since it was like diving head first into a swimming pool. It took a

little while to adjust to academics again. Not only did I need to hone my critical reading, writing, and

study skills, but another beast stood grinning before me: Latin. Over the course of the first year, learning

the grammar, syntax, and sentence structure of Latin consumed the bulk of my time as it was an exercise

in pure memorization and it still confuses me. I did have a little fun with it in between deciphering perfect

subjunctives and passive periphrastics after I realized How the Grinch Stole Christmas is available in

Latin. (Please, don’t ask me to read it to you.) All in all though, I was pleased with my progress in the first

year. Whereas some of the material I was already familiar with, the rest of it was brand new. Still I

discovered many areas of canon law that I thought I knew, but knew wrongly. If there is one surprising

thing that I have learned this past year it is that canon law is not as black and white as I once had thought.

Canon law exists to protect the Church and for the salvation of souls. When canon law is properly observed, many

problems are avoided and the Church as a whole grows in holiness. Many of the problems that we are experiencing today

likely would have been avoided had we simply turned to our own canon law and followed it. Although it has its roots in

Roman law, the canon law of the Church is on par with, or even superior to other legal systems of the world. Plus the

canons themselves have nearly 2,000 years of history and development behind them.

With my first year of canon law completed, I am looking forward to being with you once again this summer as Fr.

Girotti embarks on his second summer of studies. I really enjoyed my time last year at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and St.

John the Evangelist. With one summer already under my belt, I honestly feel as though I am returning home for the

summer. Blessings, Fr. Brian

St. Thomas More Annual Appeal – May, 2013

Dear Friend of St. Thomas More School:

St. Thomas More School, along with nine other Catholic schools in the Green Bay area, is part of the Catholic education

system known as GRACE (Green Bay Area Catholic Education). Although the support of these ten schools mainly comes

from GRACE and the 23 parishes supporting the system, as well as tuition from our families, each school is still responsible

for doing their own third source funding. St. Thomas More includes our Annual Appeal as part of our third source funding.

Donations given to this appeal will go directly to St. Thomas More School. St. Thomas More School continues to provide a

quality education for our Early Childhood through eighth grade students based on a curriculum that stresses the development

of the whole child in a creative and safe environment. The Christian morals, values and lessons taught in our school will

serve our students, church and community well for years to come as these young people become our future leaders.

However, the struggle to meet expenses and remain viable is a constant one. St. Thomas More serves a diverse urban

population and many lower income families. Any donations, large or small, are greatly needed and appreciated. Donations to

the STM Annual Appeal provide an ideal way to fulfill the Gospel mandate to pass on the legacy of the Catholic faith to all

generations. Your financial gift will enable you to respond to this divine challenge, and help us to meet our fundraising goal.

Please consider a tax-deductible donation, large or small, that will help enable this excellent school to thrive for many years

to come. As an alumnus of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, St. Mary of the Angels or SS. Peter and Paul School, or St. Thomas

More School, a parent or grandparent of these students, or someone who believes in or has benefitted from a quality Catholic

education, your donation and support of the St. Thomas More Annual Appeal will be especially appreciated. The community

of St. Thomas More School thanks God for your generous giving and asks Him to bless your days abundantly. We ask that

you continue to keep our school and families in your prayers.

“FROM THE HEART”

Reflections on receiving Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist

from Saint Francis Xavier Cathedral First Holy Communicants:

“Thank you God for the gift of Holy Communion. I was very happy when I received You. I hope that one

day I can be with You in Heaven. Amen.” Sam N.

“Dear God, Thank you for giving me this special day to receive my first Holy Communion. I got to re-

ceive you in first Holy Communion with Father Girotti. It made me feel very special even if I was scared

not knowing what it would feel like. I received Holy Communion a second time this past Sunday. It made

me feel awesome.” Love, Brayden C.

“Dear God, Thank You God for coming to me through the gift and sacrifice of your Son Jesus Christ. I

ask that he stays with me and guides me in my life.” Hayden Z.

“Dear God, Thank you, thank you, thank you for coming to me in Holy Communion and all the other

sacraments. Please help me know what job I’ll have when I grow up. I’ve still got some time but I’d like

some help. I’ve got some ideas, here they are: a priest, a deacon, my dad’s new business, be a semi-truck

driver, or be a farmer.” Love, one of your children, David M.

“Thank you God for letting Yourself into me, now I will willingly give myself to you. Amen” Catherine S.

“Dear God, my first Holy Communion experience was joy, awesomeness, coolest, funnest thing that ever

happened to me! It was so fun that I almost exploded into pieces of joy! Thank you for making me feel

joy.” Love, Joseph P.

“Dear God, This day was the best! I got to go to Red Robin. I got to have cake. But the best thing about

this day was I got to receive YOU!” David G.
