OBITUARY

Jean Hansen Jean Hill Hansen, age87, passed away peaceully onMay 16, 2016 at Prairie RidgeVillage in Glasgow, Montanasurrounded by her loving

amily.Jean was the ourth child o

Finnish immigrant parents romHamilton, Montana, and wasborn on May 10, 1929 to Herman and Mary (Noponen) Hill intheir home 3.5 miles west o Hamilton. Jean attended school inHamilton, graduating in 1947 as valedictorian o her class. Shereceived a scholarship to Cottey College in Nevada, MO andgraduated in 1949 with an Associate o Arts degree in English.

In 1949 she went to work or the Montana Departmento Public Welare as a caseworker and was assigned to Valley

County. Jean went on a date with Bob Hansen on NewYear’s Eve 1949 and they were married October 27, 1950 inHamilton at the German Lutheran Church. Five childrenwere born to this union; William Robert, Mary Lillian, LaurieJo, Kathryn Kay and Stephen Carl.

Jean was able to be a stay-at-home mom and busiedhersel with her children’s activities and community serviceAmong these were Parent eachers Association, CubScout Leader, Lutheran Sunday school teacher, LutheranChurch Circle, Scotty Band Parents Supporter, 4-H LeaderHomemaker’s Club, P.E.O., Republican Women, RepublicanCentral Committee and Bridge Clubs. Jean was very proud

o being a 65-year member o P.E.O. Chapter U o Glasgow.Jean was very proud o her Finnish heritage and

exemplified “sisu” in every aspect o her lie and instilled thischaracteristic in each o her children. A highlight o her liewas a trip to Finland in 1987 to trace her genealogy and visithe villages where her parents were born. Jean thoroughly enjoyed her seven grandchildren andattended many o their school and sports activities.

Jean is preceded in her death by her husband, Robert, in July2001 and daughter in law, Margery (William), in October 1994. Jean is survived by her children, William Hansen(Karyn) o Phillipsburg, Mary L Hansen o Billings, LaurieJ Hansen o Maplewood, MN, Kay Hansen Bitney (Byeo Kalispell and Steve Hansen (Peggy) o Glasgow and hergrandchildren Stephanie Dworak (Steve) o St. Louis ParkMN, Marina and Madison Hansen o Bozeman, M, Andreaand Salomon Hansen o Glasgow, Katy and Carl Bitney oKalispell and numerous nieces and nephews.

Tere will be a celebration o Jean’s lie at First LutheranChurch in Glasgow on Tursday, May 19 at 10 a.m. Memorialmay be made to Cottey College, P.E.O. Foundation, FirsLutheran Church o Glasgow or the charity o your choice. Jean’s amily is hoping there is bridge club in heaven!
