A Word from the Superintendent We are coming to the end of another successful year @ BFDC. We have so many things that our students have successfully

accomplished. I want to take this opportunity to thank the teachers and support staff, parents, and patrons of our communities

for their contributions to the school and students.

As we enter into the summer break, I encourage parents to keep the students engaged in reading and math activities. Keeping students engaged over the summer helps them retain the knowledge and skills they have acquired throughout the school year.

This helps students as they prepare for the next grade level in the fall. Contact your child's teacher or the building principal for

resources that can be utilized at home.

Once again, thank you to all students, parents, teachers and staff for making 2014 a GREAT year @ BFDC.

Golf Ends Season Golf was a struggle this year for the boys and girls

team but at every tourna-ment each player showed

progress.

The boy’s qualifier on the 28th of April was at Boil-

ing Springs and was very

competitive with 19 teams playing. The boys all shot

their seasons best, but still weren’t able to qualify to

move on to regionals. Seth

Nason shot an 88, which was only 7 strokes away

from qualifying individually,

Daniel Battles shot a 96, Aaron Knight shot a 99,

Tony Dorman shot a 106, and Jordan Spradlin shot a

111.

The Girls qualifier was on the 22nd of April at Clin-

ton. They tied for 4th as a

team out of 7 teams. Brooke Battles shot a 111,

Katie Birdwell shot a 112, Shaydie Villegas shot a 113,

and Kelsey Briggs shot a

118. At regionals, on a mis-erably cold and windy day in

King Fisher, on the 29th, the girls did not advance to

move on to state.

Golf is an extremely frus-trating and “exact” sport,

and takes a lot of patience

to be able to play. The golf-ers are getting better each

season and are looking for-ward to next year.

Baseball News The BF-DC junior high and high school baseball

teams did well this year. They improved a lot and

overall played well. Their

last games were on Thurs-day April 12, 2014. They

won many games and dur-

ing their last two games they made two homeruns -

a great way to end the sea-son.

JR High Softball Ends Season The JR High girls soft-ball team has ended the season this year with an 8-6 win-loss record. They have done great and are excited for next year’s season and eager to start fast-pitch. Katie Birdwell Staff Reporter

HS Softball Looking Forward to Next Season The high-school girls ended their season earlier

than they wanted to this year. However, they played

hard up against some high

ranked teams in districts. They lost to Thomas playing

great defensively but could-

n’t quite come through of-fensively. Their last game

against Hinton, who was ranked 4th in the state, was

kept to a tie up until the 4th

inning. The Lady Eagles lost 4-1. The season ended with

8 losses and 4 wins. Hinton

is now playing at the state tournament.

The girls will be getting ready for fast pitch this

summer. They are eagerly

waiting to start next year’s slow-pitch season back up.

The team is sad to be

losing Seniors Brandi Lamb and Wendy Santiago.
