greener engines

Navistar is committed to the pursuit of technologies that address the issue of global climate change. We have developed diesel hybrid vehicles that emit 40% less carbon dioxide (CO2) than conventional diesel engines. We have reduced emissions of black carbon in our North American products to near-zero levels. Our newly developed aerodynamic truck cab designs reduce CO2 emissions by another four percent. And recent advances in aftertreatment have dramatically reduced emissions of hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) both of which contribute to a potent greenhouse gas.

Navistar has a rich history of delivering firsts in clean air technology. Navistar was the first to deliver a mid range electronic diesel in North America and the first to demonstrate clean air standards. This was accomplished five years in advance of the regulations. Also, Navistar was the first to introduce Green Diesel Technology® with diesel emissions equal to natural gas.

AlternAtive Fuels

We continue to invest in alternative fuel projects. Biodiesel is a renewal fuel that reduces pollutant emission into the atmosphere. Navistar conducts numerous testing programs to search for

efficient use of this greener fuel, often working in conjunction with the National Petroleum Agency. Diesel-gas and diesel-ethanol are also potential fuels being tested. With this 90% gas and 10% diesel mixture, Diesel-gas can offer a 25% reduction in CO2 emissions into the atmosphere; as well as lowering levels of noise and vibration.

Our engines power the machines that power the world, and we are providing cleaner, quieter, and more efficient products than ever before. Coupled with our focus on helping create a cleaner and more stable world, we give our customers not only what they want, but need to succeed in today’s global economy.

Let us show you how we can help you today.
