Remember, parents are a child’s first teachers and examples.If you always buckle your seat belt, your child will think it isthe natural thing to do. Make it a firm rule that the vehicledoes not go until everyone is buckled up. Make no exceptions.

Never take your child out of the childrestraint while the vehicle is moving. Neverleave child unattended.
Placing your child in a hot child restraint mayresult in burns.
Do not use a child restraint with damaged ormissing parts.
Do not use cut, frayed or damaged harnesses.
Do not lubricate buckles and fasteners.
Do not substitute parts or try to modify thechild restraint in any way.
Do not use any child restraint accessoryexcept those approved by Dorel Juvenile Group.
Never allow any child to play with this childrestraint; it is not a toy.
Do not remove or cover up any of the warninglabels or other labels on the child restraint.
Read all instructions for additional warnings.

Check the vehicle belt or LATCH belt beforeeach use. Use only if the belt is tightened
properly and securely. This child restraint should be securely belted
in the vehicle even when not in use. In a crashor sudden stop, an unsecured child restraintcould injure occupants.
Do not use a child restraint that has been in acrash. You must get a new child restraint.

Harness covers help providecomfort to the neck. Forsmaller infants, you may needto fit the upper end of the
harness covers into the harness slots.
To remove, unthread the harness straps from splitter plate andremove the harness covers. Rethread harness straps backthrough the correct harness slots and attach the harness to thesplitter plate. See section C-3.

You MUST use the TinyFitinfant insert if your child is18 lbs or less. If your child
weighs more than 18 lbs andless than 40 lbs. or if you areusing this child restraint asa forward-facing seat, youMUST remove the TinyFitinfant insert.
Head Pillow (on select models)
When using the head pillow,make sure it does not cover theinfant’s face in any way.
To adjust the head pillow, slidethe top together or apart for a proper fit.
To remove, unthread the harness straps from splitter plateand remove the head support. Rethread harness straps backthrough the correct harness slots and attach the harness to thesplitter plate. See section C-2.

With some smaller new borns,you may need to use the smallerchest clip.
To use the smaller chest clip,unthread the harness straps
from splitter plate and remove the large chest clip. Thread newsmaller chest clip on. Rethread harness straps back through the

Vehicle Belts
If LATCH is not an option,you must use the vehicleseat belt system to installthe child restraint. Thereare some vehicle beltsthat will not work with a
child restraint or will require special attention.
See next page and check your vehicle’s owner’s manualfor specific instructions.
The LATCH System
LATCH (Lower Anchors andTethers for CHildren) is auniversal system for installingchild restraints without usingvehicle seat belts.
The LATCH system can ONLYbe used in vehicles that have
the LATCH anchor bars installed and designated LATCH seatingpositions. Most vehicles manufactured after September 2002 areequipped with LATCH.
Check your vehicle owner’s manual to see which seating positionsmay be equipped with the LATCH system.

D-2 Vehicle Seating Position
Some seating positions in your vehicle may not be safe forthis child restraint. Some vehicles do not have a seatingposition that can be used safely with this child restraint. Ifyou are not sure where to place the child restraint in yourvehicle, consult your vehicle owner’s manual or contactDorel Juvenile Group Consumer Relations Dept.
Safety Tip:Children are safer whenproperly restrained in
rear seating positionsthan in the frontseating positions.
According to National Highway TrafficSafety Administration information, childrenin rear seating positions are statisticallysafer, whether you have air bags,advanced air bags, or no air bags at all.
Never place a child rear-facing in a
seating position with an active frontalairbag. This can result in serious injuryor death.
Use the child restraintonly on vehicle seatsthat face forward. Do notuse on seats that facethe sides or rear of the vehicle.
Do not use both the LATCH belt and vehiclebelt at the same time.

Pull Vehicle Belt AcrossChild Restraint
Without the TinyFit infantinsert (A), thread vehicle beltUNDER seat pad in front ofbuckle strap and out oppositeside. Buckle vehicle belt.With the TinyFit infant insert(B), make sure harnesssystem is loose and headrestis up. Thread vehicle beltUNDER seat pad and TinyFitinfant insert on top of bucklestrap and out the oppositeside.Do not place vehicle beltover child’s legs.

Tighten Vehicle Belt
Push down firmly on thechild restraint and while
pulling on the vehicleshoulder belt to tighten.

Locate Locking ClipLocation
Grasp both vehicle belts
together just behind thelatch plate and unbuckle.NOTE: If the latch plateends up just at the beltpath opening, graspthe vehicle belts on theopposite side of the childrestraint, as close to thelatch plate as possible.

A locking clip will not fix all types of vehicle seat beltproblems. Review section D-4 and your vehicle’s ownermanual for vehicle seat belt use with child restraints. Thelocking clip is located on the back of the child restraint.
The following directions describe installing the child restraintrear-facing. Same steps apply for forward-facing, except installthe restraint forward-facing and thread the vehicle belt in theforward-facing belt path.

Place Child Restraint inVehicle Rear-Facing
With child restraint in thereclined position, makesure level line on the side ofthe child restraint are levelwith ground. Adjust childrestraint if needed.NOTE: Hook top anchoragehook (tether) on the baseand tighten. See section E-1.

Position locking clip about1 in. (2.5 cm) from vehiclebelt’s latch plate.

pull the child restraint fromside to side, forward andback. The child restraintshould not move more than1 inch.
NOTE: If it moves more than an inch, redo the steps 5 through 9again or try another seating location.
Remove the locking clip when the vehicle seat belt is notbeing used with a child restraint.

Replace the pad on thecorners of shell if needed.
If you are using the TinyFitinfant insert, be sure pushthe insert back into theseat back and the headrestis pushed down on top ofinsert and locked into place.

in the Back Seat Rear-Facing
Move the front seats forwardto give you room to install thechild restraint. With the childrestraint in a reclined position,center the child restraint inthe chosen seating position.
2.
Do not use the LATCH system along with the vehicle lap or lap/shoulder belt.
Check LATCH belt before each use. Use onlyif the belt can be tightened properly andsecurely.

Make sure level lines on sideof plastic shell are level withground. Adjust child restraintif needed.

4. Connect LATCH toVehicle LATCH Anchor
NOTE: The LATCH’s redrelease button MUST faceaway from child restraint andthe arrows on connectorsMUST face up.
Fasten one LATCH beltconnector to the anchorin the vehicle seat locatedin the vehicle seat bight.Repeat for other side ofchild restraint.
Check LATCH BeltTightness
Grasp the child restraintat the belt path with onehand. Push and pull thechild restraint from sideto side, forward and back.The child restraint shouldnot move more than 1inch.
NOTE: If it moves more than1 inch, try reinstalling thechild restraint or try anotherseating location.
Secure your child inthe child restraintand check for properrecline.

To Remove LATCH BeltFrom Vehicle Anchor
Remove child from childrestraint. Press downfirmly on child restraint andpress the red release buttonon each connector.

Tighten LATCH Belt
Push down firmly on the childrestraint and pull up on thefree end of LATCH belt totighten.
