Greetings to our Valued Members of Maumee-BG 1850!I hope this message finds you all healthy and well! I very

much understand the toll the last 9 weeks have taken on all ofus-not just physically, but emotionally and mentally. But, it doesseem that the light at the end of the tunnel is shining very bright!

Since the temporary closure of local businesses, our trusteeshave been working diligently at the lodge to prepare for reopen-ing! Their teamwork and solidarity reflects an approved lodgebudget for the coming year, and a sparkling facility-cleansedfrom top to bottom! Walls, light fixtures, plaques, tables andchairs, and many points in between have been sanitized for oursafety and protection in preparation of our doors opening to us.There is still much work ahead for our members, but I am con-fident that together, we can ensure safety and fun for all.

On May 7th, Governor DeWine unveiled his reopening planfor area businesses. I (personally) feel that the most importantpart of that message is that we must all maintain our diligencein personal safety. Stay at home if you are not feeling well, andto continue to practice safe social distancing while in public. Itis the duty of the Officers and Trustees of 1850 to take everyprecautionary measure we can to help maintain the safety ofour members AND employees. Below is the reopening plan forMaumee-BG Elks 1850:

We will officially open on May 21st. Opening at 11 a.m. to9 p.m. through June 1st. Hours will be adjusted as demand re-quires. Currently, a limited kitchen menu will be available untilfurther notice.

1850 will also resume our Summer Monday Night hours likelast year, Mondays will be returning to 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Mon-days only effective June 1st through Labor Day.

Our 150 Club will begin on Thursday June 4th, but all 150Club members are encouraged to visit prior to June 4th to shareideas with Tom and Cindy Machoukas to detail the remainderof the year.

Beverages and tickets WILL be available for sale at the brassrail area on the bar beginning May 21st . There will be nobarstools or congregating permitted at the actual bar. We areasking that patrons maintain social distancing while waiting inline-unless a server is available during your visit.

Seating areas are currently being rearranged. Large partiesup to 8 will be permitted in the Ballroom only, the lounge areais being adjusted to accommodate tables of 4 based on 6ft socialdistancing guidelines.

Per state health department guidelines, billiards (cards andpool) or dancing is not permitted until further notice.

The Queen of Hearts will resume on May 30th, our hours ofoperation will be adjusted to accommodate our normal drawingschedule for the Queen on this date. First daily and weeklydrawing will coincide with the Queen’s drawing.

We are asking all members to bus their own tables at thistime. Disposable dinner and drinkware will be used as we firstopen, this is to ensure cleanliness and safety for our employees.Assistance will be provided to those members that need it. Weare all here to help one another. Washing and sanitizing of ta-bles will be provided by staff.

Personal protection equipment will be provided to lodge em-ployees. If members wish to adhere to masks, we urge membersto wear them. A small number of masks will be available tothose that are in need.

To our beloved Lady Elks...please watch your emails for animportant message from Cindy Machoukas with updates for thefirst meeting of the lodge year.

The Allen Street entrance will be the only door available toenter the building on a temporary basis. Entrance only on AllenStreet, and exit only on the Wayne Street (Lounge area). A cardis 100% needed for entrance. The bartender or other desig-nated employee is approved to open the Allen Street entrance. The only reason to require the buzzer for entrance if you do nothave your new card and you need to pay dues to pay currentdues.

For our members that have asked about discounts on mem-bership dues as a result of the pandemic, no-there are no dis-counts available to members. True-there were several weeksthat the lodge was not available to ANY members, but there areno discounts or pro-ration of dues in light of the current situa-tion. Any members that wish to pay in the building, dues canbe paid during bar hours. Please be sure to bring paperwork atthat time, so payments can be properly tracked.

We are strongly urging members not to invite quests for atemporary period.

Our officers and trustees have our very best health at heart. Some of these modifications may seem stern-but it is for thesafety of not only you-our member, but also our valued employ-ees. These alterations may be subject to change at any giventime. Not by the choice of 1850, but by government and li-censing.

I cannot stress enough to you how ready and excited we allare to see you at the Lodge. It was a very harsh situation to hitnot only our country, but the world, reaching all continents witha vengeance. But together, much like we all band together toprotect our communities during trying times, we will comethrough this stronger than we started.

Thank you very much for your understanding, patience, andcontinued support of this amazing organization!!
