What is the narrow gate?

John 10:7-9 - Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.”

Christianity is unique in claiming to have absolute truth. Either Jesus was correct or he was wrong, there is no middle ground.

C.S. Lewis stated: “I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: ‘I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept His claim to be God.’ That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher.

He would either be a lunatic-on a level with then man who says he is a poached egg-or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this mans was, and is the Son of God: Or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon;

or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come up with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.

We must be careful not to get lulled into sleep and believe that even though our family and friends don’t trust Jesus as their Savior they are still ok.

2 Corinthians 5:19-21 - And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

Assignment for this week…

- Pray that God would open a door for you and give you a chance to speak to someone you know

- Pray that God would soften the hearts of those around you

Matthew 7:15-20 - Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thorn bushes, or figs from thistles? Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit,

and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
