While the litterbox can be open or covered, put the box somewhere hidden or out of sight, so he/she feels safe to use it.

If you have a big house, invest in an additional or two litter boxes for different locations, especially for old cats.

Coarse litter may be difficult for sensitivity
Seldom a problem these days, but it is unpleasant if the litter is very coarse. It's not comfortable for your cats' sensitive paws.

It must be cleared daily! Don't be surprised otherwise if he/she thinks it's no longer suitable to use, and uses your bed blanket instead!
