Oh no! We live in a … - Hybrid multi s ourced
+ Software Service( ) Hybrid Cloud World and
we didn’t know it!
But hold on SOA’s deadisn’t it! SOA failed to
deliver didn’t it?
Anyway we’re too ’s ilo d and project and
opportunity driven to consider adding cloud to
the mix!
Yes that’s true … but the problem is SOA is driven by the SOA Junkies …
We think too much like Adam Smith and his
divis ion of labour or Henry Ford and his as s embly line ! We’re too Tas k oriented
We think of Separation of Concerns, abstractions,
and ah … yes Re-Use, the - !holy grail of Re us e
How many times have we tried to deliver the
“Single view of the?Cus tomer ”
These approaches breed complexity and like the
fourth bridge, never end, adding little
bus ines s value

technology princ iplesinstead of the
princ iples of bus ines s !

That are s table , -s e lfcontained, and meas urable
So let’s step back and ask ?what is the Enterpris e

Enterpris e Capability Heat Maps tell you what’s
important and if it’s healthy or not
Capabilities allow you to decompos e the
enterpris e into discrete self contained units of
s pec ialis ation
In this way you can unlock a new s trategy.
One that is Service Centric
And take advantage of the - Hybrid multi s ourced
+ Software Service( ) Hybrid Cloud
we live in.
