To find areas of figures made up of trianges, rectangles, parallelograms or trapeziums

Example 1

Area of triangle = ½ x 8cm x 6 cm = ½ x 48cm² = 24cm²

Solution

Area of square = 4 cm x 4 cm = 16 cm²

Area of the figure = 24cm² + 16 cm² = 40cm²

Area of triangle = ½ x 7m x 6 m = ½ x 42 m² = 21 m²

Area of the figure = 28 m² +21 m² = 49 m²

Area of E = ½ x 5 cm x 8 cm = ½ x 40 cm² = 20 cm²
