CREDENTIALINGClass participants are credentialed based on their performance on quizzes , SKILLSquizzes, weekly Exams and a cumulative Final Exam. Each portion of the grade ismore clearly described below. Final course grades will be based upon one of two grad-ing schema presented in the chart below. Note that you will automatically be assignedthe higher of the two percentages calculated.

Grade Scheme 1 Scheme 2Weekly Exams 50% −−

(10% each)SKILLS Quizzes 20% 20%Final Exam 30% 80%

QUIZZES and SKILLS QuizzesQuizzes will be given in nearly every lecture in one of two formats. Quizzes are a mix-ture of partial credit problems and TF/MC questions. The partial credit problems comefrom examples in lecture and suggested homework problems. Two quizzes of this typeare given each week and allow you to accumulate bonus points that are added to yourexam score for the week. SKILLS Quizzes (No Partial Credit Skills Quizzes) will begraded on a no partial credit basis and will come from the Calculus Skills problems canbe found at http://calculus.math.rpi.edu/. SKILLS Quizzes account for 20% of youroverall grade. Second chance SKILLS quizzes are given at designated times during thesession.

EXAMSExams will be given during lecture every Friday covering the material of that week. The only exception is that for Exam 2, a SKILLS section from Week 1 will be includedon Exam 2 rather than on Exam 1. Each exam will include a SKILLS section, a TFand Multiple Choice section and a Partial credit section. Your score on a given examwill be the sum of the points earned on the exam plus the bonus points accumulatedon the quizzes given during that particular week up to a maximum of 100 points. (Ifyour exam score + bonus points sum to greater than 100 points, you forfeit the bonuspoints above 100 for that week. They can not carry over to a subsequent week.)

FINAL EXAMThe Final Exam will be cumulative and will be administered during the finals periodJuly 1-2. As in the weekly exams, there will be a SKILLS section, a TF and MultipleChoice section and a Partial Credit section on the final exam.
