Master in Bioethics and Law of the University of Barcelona www.bioethicsandlaw.es/master Presentation The Master in Bioethics and Law is a two-year 120 ECTS master degree from the University of Barcelona that was first launched in 1995. It is organized by the Bioethics and Law Observatory (OBD) and the University of Barcelona’s UNESCO Chair in Bioethics, and is part of the Integrated Base Program for the Study of Bioethics created under the framework of UNESCO’s Educational Program. Its faculty includes both renowned professionals and academics. The Master’s goal is to provide up-to-date training in Bioethics through the use of blended-learning combining the potential of classroom teaching with the power of the New Technologies of Information and Communication. Sessions are held at the University of Barcelona during a period of two weeks a year in order to facilitate the attendance of international students. Specific Goals To provide a comprehensive, flexible and integrated vision of bioethics and its implications in the context of Human Rights. To provide interdisciplinary training on how to analyze ethical problems arising from research when applied to biotechnology. To encourage teamwork among professionals from different disciplines and origin in order to create stable networks for bioethical discussion. Methodology The program’s methodology accommodates to the organization necessities of each participant, regardless of their professional and geographical situation and regardless also of their scope of interest. Each student has a support tutor that will help him along the way. Professional responsibilities can be combined with this program as long as students have a constant weekly dedication to the Master. After each unit of the program, students must face an online assessment on the unit’s content. Each unit consists of specific topic analysis materials and is always accompanied by self-assessment exercises that allow for keeping track of the learning process. DIRECTOR Dra. Addressed to Professionals of health related disciplines. Public officials from institutions from the health sector. Jurists whose specific field of work requires for a better understanding of Bioethics. Philosophers, humanists, psychologists, technologists, anthropologists and sociologists. University and secondary education professors who need to further their knowledge of Bioethics. Professionals from the communication field. Graduated students with interest in Bioethics. Enrolment The application in process requires candidates to send either by e-mail or regular post a CV and together with an application form that is available at the Observatory of Bioethics & Law's website. This documents can also be delivered personally at our headquarters. There will be a selection among candidates based on CV merits. Interviewed will be carried if necessary, either face-to-face or online. Requirements University diploma. Computer with Internet connection. Enrolment fee 1st year: 2.790 € 2nd year: 2.990 €
