• Exploring different ways of assessing current competencies of leadership team

• Identifying barriers and competing forces that might impact on change

• Developing a strategic map to create the shift

Participants will work in teams and use the company’s capacity-building strategy as a case study, and will benchmark against international case studies. Facilitation methods include classroom presentations, videos, recommended reading and group discussions.

The master class as a learning investmentAfter completion of the Master Class, you will be equipped to:

• make use of a diagnostic tool to assess the current culture dominating the organisation and understand its impact on organisational performance

• apply the competitive culture framework including concepts of innovation, people first, execution and delivery, and consistency and control

• map the cultural shifts of a specific organisation

• design a cultural development plan to guide the process of changing the existing culture of the organisation

MQA and CPD ApprovalThis Master Class is MQA approved and HRDC refundable. This Master Class is equivalent to 14 CPD points.

AdmissionRequirements

No formal tertiary qualifications are required.

Certificate

On successful completion of the programme (including successful passing of the assignment) participants will receive a certificate from Stellenbosch University.

• Understanding culture and behavioural norms that develop in organisations over time and where people learn what is really valued

FRAMEWORKS OF A COMPETITIVE CULTURE

• Innovation and customer centricity: Intimately understanding the needs of those outside the organisation; ensuring all stakeholders are engaged to respond in innovative ways that are easier, faster, cheaper and more convenient for the customer

• People first – one team: Valuing and equipping people with capabilities; fostering a culture that promotes cohesion, participation, individuality, and a sense of ‘we-ness’

• Execution and delivery: Ensuring individuals, teams and the organisation are delivering what they agreed to; ensuring the workplace is results-oriented and that leaders and teams are hard-driving producers and competitors

• Consistency and control: Generating efficient, reliable, smooth-flowing and predictable output; implementing integrated business processes and systems with clear lines of decision-making and standardised rules and procedures

• Diagnosing what is causing deficiencies in your company and the power of culture on what people focus and/or neglect

Facilitator: Mr Vonnie Mostert (MA Psych)He is a registered psychologist and organisational development practitioner with more than 16 years’ experience. On an international level he is involved in management and leadership development, team performance improvement programmes, organisational change and capacity building processes. He is a seasoned facilitator of change and strategic processes and is a certified facilitator of the Young Presidents’ Organization International (YPO). His passion is to make a significant contribution towards the discourses around transformation, employee engagement and organisational effectiveness within the current uncertain and complex realities in society.
