But they did not understand what he said to them. He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man. (Lk 2:49-51)

First of, a little recap with what we have been through the past few days. Last Christmas Eve and Day Masses, the readings gave us important points to ponder. On Christmas Eve, listening to the genealogy of Jesus in Matthew's gospel would help us ground our faith on the historical Jesus - that he descended from real human beings, flawed, sinful, etc... His divinity is beautifully wrapped up in the mystery of the Incarnation through the cooperation of his mother Mary, the Immaculate, and of Joseph, from David's line. The Midnight Mass gave us Luke's account of how the virgin birth came about witnessed by humble and poor shepherds; the royal presence of kings and heavenly angels. Christmas Day had us still in awe, albeit in a poetic way, about the gospel writer John's account of Jesus as the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us.

Today's Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph is another realistic portrayal of how present day families can and will be able to follow hints of holiness from the Holy Family's earthly, daily grind - of trying to understand one another's quirks; questioning one another ("Son, why have you done this to us?"); growing together in wisdom and faith in God's ways. As we've been taught from Catechesis, the family is the domestic church. Faith, like charity, begins at home. Sad to say -likewise, indifference or lack of love for the church and everyone else, also begins at home. So thank you all for being with family in church during these holidays, celebrating your faith in Christ Jesus with your bigger, spiritual parish family. May the coming New Year be filled with more family gatherings; more active participation in our parish ministries; growing in wisdom and grace in the Lord. This briefly passing year 2018 was made meaningful and fruitful by your undying support and love for St. Faustina parish church. Picking up from what Fr. David has left off, you all made it easier for me to adjust and take on the role of leader and pastor. A million thanks to the support staff, countless volunteers and lay leaders moving us forward in achieving our vision of bringing God's mercy, love and peace to the hungry and suffering, enkindling the little hope in their hearts to brighten up the world. Have a blessed and a great New Year!

Fr. Ramon ...And his commandment is this: we should believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another just as he commanded us. (1Jn 3:23)

GOSPEL BIBLE STUDY Would you like to better understand the Gospel passages you hear proclaimed each Sunday? If so, St Faustina will begin a weekly Gospel Bible Study on beginning on Tuesday, January 8th from 6:30 -8:00pm in the Office Kitchen Hall.

Each weekly study consists of General Information that will help you better understand the context and words of the reading to be studied, followed by a line-by-line walkthrough and discussion of the reading you will hear proclaimed at Mass the following Sunday.

In the past those who attended ranged in age from 8 years old to 85. No previous bible study is required and there is no requirement to participate in discussions. There is no cost to participate, and no homework assigned beyond your own desire to ponder on the Word of God.

You can join us any week and if you miss a week you are not behind; there is no beginning or end to the Gospel of our Lord.

Please come to our introductory session on January 8th to learn more.
