We also support and participate in the wider Worcester West District P.E programme which further widens the opportunities available to our children and staff to participate and learn from good practice across the county. Involvement in the Worcester West competitions and festivals provides opportunities to access County and National competition. In addition, we also enter a range of competitions across the County which are not part of these programmes e.g. Worcestershire County Cricket Kwik Cricket for KS 2 children, Worcester Warriors Tag Rugby and Small Schools Worcestershire football leagues and cup competitions. Our school is committed to providing a wide range of activities including intra and inter competition. It is also committed to developing the enjoyment of physical activity and the education about healthy lifestyle choices. We continue to provide high quality professional development for our staff. This includes funded 3 x 1 day opportunities for PE sports leaders from each school to meet professionally and participate in a range of development activities, including maintaining and reviewing the organisation of the sporting calendar across the cluster, developing curriculum materials for consistent provision across schools, participating in cpd to enhance own professional capacity as a PE leader and maintain a sense of togetherness and support to continue to provide high quality provision. This is enhanced by our subscription and use of YST (Youth Sport Trust). We had many achievements as a school last year in PE, culminating in the recognition of our achievements with the award of Bronze School Games Mark.

Our vision

1. To enable all children and young people to be the best that they can become

2. To increase participation amongst all children and young people

3. To enable all children and young people to make informed choices about lifelong physical activity

As a cluster we all continue to proportionally support the maintenance and development of our effective cluster sporting structure. This includes

part funding for a Sport’s facilitator/organiser at the local Chantry High school and Sport Martley facility. This supports, compliments and enhances

the high quality in-house provision already provided by the staff of Martley CE Primary school. It also enables the development of Young Leaders

at the High school and our own schools who collaboratively help to run events across the cluster and within our own schools.

We also support and participate in the wider Worcester West District P.E programme which further widens the opportunities available to our

children and staff to participate and learn from good practice across the county. Involvement in the Worcester West competitions and festivals

provides opportunities to access County and National competition.

In addition, we also enter a range of competitions across the County which are not part of these programmes e.g. Worcestershire County

Cricket Kwik Cricket for KS 2 children, Worcester Warriors Tag Rugby and Small Schools Worcestershire football leagues and cup competitions.

Our school is committed to providing a wide range of activities including intra and inter competition.

It is also committed to developing the enjoyment of physical activity and the education about healthy lifestyle choices.

We continue to provide high quality professional development for our staff. This includes funded 3 x 1 day opportunities for PE sports

leaders from each school to meet professionally and participate in a range of development activities, including maintaining and reviewing

the organisation of the sporting calendar across the cluster, developing curriculum materials for consistent provision across schools,

participating in cpd to enhance own professional capacity as a PE leader and maintain a sense of togetherness and support to continue to

provide high quality provision. This is enhanced by our subscription and use of YST (Youth Sport Trust).

We had many achievements as a school last year in PE, culminating in the recognition of our achievements

with the award of Bronze School Games Mark.

Martley CE Primary School 2015-16 IMPACT Statement

Key Priority: PE – Our aims as a school and cluster for the academic year 2015-16:

a. to continue to promote the ‘cluster P.E vision’

b. to further develop the breadth and quality opportunities offered to all children across the cluster, (target groups for 2015-16, girls, reluctant

children and Year 1/2)

c. to develop more opportunities for leadership at all levels, and especially pupil level.

d. to develop greater continuity and progression of P.E provision within each school and across the cluster

IMPACT OF THIS PROVISION a. A unified vision of P.E across the cluster remains very strong

b. Breadth of provision-The breadth of opportunity has increased for all children across the cluster. The comprehensive calendar events actively agreed

and supported by all local cluster schools has been further enhanced. Additional targeted events have been added to the annual cluster catalogue

specifically for increasing the opportunities for KS 1 children. In addition, including these opportunities for KS 1, the number of children, especially girls

and children who have been reluctant to participate in sport, has increased. The re-organisation of the annual calendar of events by the cluster PE co-

ordinators, to be in line with the events offered by Worcestershire West and nationally, has enhanced further opportunities for successful teams to

participate in wider events. The Year 5/6 orienteering team represented the cluster in the Worcestershire West finals, finishing second. Further

discussions and evaluations continue to be made at local Head Teacher Cluster meetings to ensure continued support for the provision across the cluster.

This is evidenced in minutes from the respective co-ordinator and head’s cluster meetings.

Quality of provision-This has been continued to be enhanced by the use of a combination of expert coaches e.g. use of dance coaches at Y34 festival,

use of tennis and football coaches to enhance curriculum provision, the use of staff’s own curriculum expertise/interest and good quality professional

development, including access to INSET and resources. The continuity and progression of the provision and activities provided has been

enhanced, by the reorganisation of the annual calendar, plus the production of a suggested framework for each school for their mixed age class PE

curriculum, produced by 2 of the cluster PE subject leaders (funded jointly by the cluster schools). This brings the provision in line with the cluster and

Worcestershire West events, and is also arranged to provide continuity and progression across the pupils’ time throughout primary school within the

cluster. This plan will be phased into the cluster schools, including Martley from 2016-17 onwards.

c. Leadership development-Cluster School P.E leaders continue to have at least termly opportunities to meet, participate/lead cpd,

plan/review/enhance provision in their own schools and across the cluster. This group is led and developed by active use of the funding to purchase time

and expertise from the Chantry Cluster Sports Leader and Worcestershire West Schools Games Organiser. This is funded from the Sports Premium

grant (Next step-provide further opportunities to review etc the impact of P.E provision within our own schools and then compare/contrast this

provision across the cluster (2016-17). Martley uses and will continue to use Sports Premium funding to support this cpd. It is further enhanced by

cluster subscription to the YST-collaborative training with the YST provider is planned for 2016-17 to ensure best/better use of the YST resource

for all staff in schools.

Leadership development of pupils at all levels has been enhanced 2015-16 with the further development of Young Leaders across the schools,

including the high school. These older children act as role models for our younger children participating in the cluster sporting events. They also enable

the events to run smoothly, significantly enhancing the provision and capacity of the cluster of schools. In turn they also provide opportunities for

coaching/leading and developing sports leaders within each school. At Martley, for 2015-16, this included:

-6 x Year 5/6 children to participate in Young leader training with the Chantry young leaders and the Chantry Cluster PE Lead

-specific targeted sessions with the Young Leaders to plan, lead and evaluate sessions on lunchtime play and also tennis.

Within lessons, the opportunities for all children to have opportunities to lead/evaluate different parts of the lessons is a staff development point and

remains for 2016-17.

Funding is used to pay for supply or additional hours to enable staff (including lunchtime staff and teaching assistants) to lead/support

provision and events. Funding for TAs to participate in cpd is targeted for 2016-17.

d. to develop greater continuity and progression of P.E provision within each school and across the cluster

-The cluster curriculum map, in line with the cluster and county events has been produced as a result of the funding and collaborative efforts of the

cluster PE subject leads.

-The re-organisation of the annual timetable of events provided additional and enhanced opportunities for participation in sporting events for

children in the cluster for 2015-16 e.g. ability to go on and represent the cluster as winners in the Worcestershire West finals for orienteering as a result of

cluster competition being completed in time. This will be further enhanced for 2016-17.

- The curriculum map will be rolled out over 2016-17 across the cluster, including Martley.

-Specific targeted support for new staff, including 2 x NQT, will be built into the programme for 2016-17.

Other uses of the sport funding for 2015-16 included:

Subsidised transport costs to competitions, festivals, swimming and outdoor residential

Subsidised swimming costs for swimming facilities at local school, swimming teacher, life guard

Subsidising ‘Bikeability’ training for all Year 6 children

Subsidised costs of outdoor residential for Year 6, including staffing costs, payments for children to ensure inclusion

Supplemented P.E resources including cheerleading kits, hoops. YST sports subscription.

Trophies and certificates to celebrate achievement

Subsidised staffing costs to attend/supervise children at extra-curricular activities (e.g. TA time in addition to normal contract time).
