Are you searching for a part-time or short course in your local area? Would you like to study with the University of Cambridge but aren’t sure where to begin? Perhaps you’re looking to progress your career with a part-time qualification?

The Institute of Continuing Education (ICE) offers hundreds of courses for adults of all ages, with options ranging from weekends right up to two-year Master's programmes. ICE is based at Madingley Hall, a spectacular 16th-century mansion on the outskirts of Cambridge with some of the finest gardens in the region.

ICE weekend courses run throughout the year and tend to focus on a specific topic. You’ll enjoy delicious meals prepared by Madingley Hall’s excellent kitchen with fellow course-goers, and accommodation in one of the 62 comfortable en-suite bedrooms for the weekend is available if desired. With as many as 200 weekend courses happening throughout the year there’s sure to be something of interest.

The Madingley Weekly Programme is a series of five-week courses running between January and May. Taught by leading Cambridge academics and often approaching a topic from multiple perspectives, ICE weekly courses are a great way of exploring a new subject or getting back into higher education.

ICE also allows you to study for selected University of Cambridge qualifications part-time, at every level from Undergraduate Certificate to Master’s degrees. Finally there’s a growing range of online courses. Benefiting from the same quality and style of teaching as the rest of ICE’s courses and covering a similarly broad selection of topics, ICE online courses attract students from all over the world.

To find out more about learning opportunities with ICE visit www.ice.cam.ac.uk, email [email protected] or phone 01223 746262.

Who would have believed it !!! FOOD BANKS needed once gain. The St Neots Foodbank—You may have heard how the numbers of those turning to foodbanks is soaring, please be aware of anyone you know who may be in need and give them information about our food bank. Or maybe you are struggling and afraid to ask, or don't know where to turn. No one need go to bed hungry in our town, in exchange for a voucher ( see below) we can provide food for 3 days to help you through a crisis, and advise you on where or how to go for help with your situation. Any of us could find ourselves in crisis, poverty affects all types of people and although the welfare reforms static wages, housing changes, as well as unemployment are the main causes, it can be sudden illness or accident, redundancy, or benefit payment delays that can make the difference between food on the table or none. All you need is a voucher issued from one of a range of local care, welfare and community organisations like schools, doctors, social services, and others. If your support worker is unable to provide you with a voucher contact us for further assistance. We are open Tuesday and Friday from 10-12 Tuesdays at the United Reform Church in St Neots High Street and Fridays Eaton Socon St Mary's church. Our phone number is 07599903037 or email [email protected]. Our website www.stneots.foodbank.org.uk also provides information. Food is organised and stored at our warehouse in Little End Road, Eaton Socon, a space kindly offered to us by Brittains Furnishers. This is also where our office runs from. St Neots Foodbank opened on October lst and is run entirely by volunteers. The project was begun by ten churches in the town, who work together to run the foodbank, each providing one person as a trustee, as well as members on the management committee. We’ve had Supermarket collections from Waitrose and Tesco Extra .

DECEMBER BULLETIN FROM CAMBRIDGESHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE

IT is the time of year when we’re enjoying a tipple with friends, cooking heaps of delicious food and decking the halls. The fire service has these messages to make sure your festive cheer doesn’t go up in smoke: Kitchens are a fire hotspot, so take care while cooking your Christmas dinner. Never leave cooking unattended and turn off appliances when not in use. Switch off fairy lights and unplug them before you go to bed or leave the house. Make sure they confirm to the British Standard and never overload plug sockets. Be careful when drinking alcohol while smoking or cooking. Finally, make sure you have a working smoke alarm which is correctly fitted and works. And NEVER take the batteries out to power presents! Like our fan page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/cambsfrs, follow us on Twitter @cambsfrs. To find out if you are eligible for a free home fire safety check, call 0800 917 99 94.

Did you know: The smoke alarm was invented in 1967 by a company in the USA named BRK Electronics.

Liver Resection Services Are Changing,

The Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Scrutiny Committee is currently considering plans put forward by NHS England to create one specialist centre for liver cancer patients in the east of England. These changes mean that surgery for liver metastases – the spread of cancer from one organ or part of the body to another - would be performed at one specialist centre. We want to hear your views so they can be considered as part of the decision making process. You can do this by filling in an online survey by 17th November 2013 at www.surveymonkey.com/s/healthwatchliversurvey or post your views to Freepost RTEC-ZGLG-GYLE, Healthwatch Suffolk, 12&13 Norfolk House, Williamsport Way, Needham Market, Suffolk, IP6 8RW.

Our 2020 Vision: The Road to Renewal is a focus on positive change that transforms our communities to mend “broken Britain”.

Since March 2000 we have been building a team of people who, daily inspired in their work, seek consistently to give excellent service to our customers. This energises our residents, business partners and the wider community and helps us all find a sense of purpose, hope and fulfilment. As we change, transformation occurs and a brighter future becomes reality.
