Page 2: Mark Zuckerberg on Philanthropy

• People from all over the world know Mark Zuckerberg as the creator and CEO of Facebook, the ground breaking social media platform that has been in the forefront of social media for years

• Facebook started from the idea of connecting people who may pass each other each day on campus or on the streets of the busiest city

• Facebook has many improvements to its technology, processes, and even philanthropic efforts

• Just as Zuckerberg did with Facebook, he aims to disrupt the norm of giving and philanthropy around the world

• Zuckerberg was recently the subject of a major philanthropic event that will impact countless families

• Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan are dedicating a brand new, fully furnished, and state of the art public hospital building

• The massive gift is estimated at $75 million and will be known as the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital

• Its no secret that Zuckerberg is a wealthy man, $46 billion dollar wealthy to be exact, so it only comes with the territory one would assume that he would donate some of his time and wealth to help the less fortunate

• Zuckerberg even made a $100 million donation to public school in Newark, New Jersey that left many people scratching their heads

• Zuckerberg and his wife have also transferred billions of dollars in Facebook stock to a non-profit community foundation

• This foundation helps Zuckerberg divide up the stock as he sees fit

• The new hospital building is designed for treating some of the poorest residents in the San Francisco area

• Zuckerberg was recently interviewed regarding his generous donation, and asked to give his thoughts on philanthropy and giving back to one’s community

• He was quoted in saying, “I'd say that we're trying to help people" rather than disrupt philanthropy. Just like anything else you want to do well, investing in social-good projects takes practice. "This is the reason why we're starting when we're young.”

• The hospital will helps countless patients and make new improvements and breakthroughs for many years to come

• Zuckerberg’s wife, Priscilla, even developed a large attachment to the building

• She actually chose to do her residency program there because of the special offerings they have for treating the needy and underprivileged

• The hospital is being seeing as “the people’s hospital” based on its strong foundation of helping those who could turn to no one else for aid

• The city of San Francisco and surrounding areas seemingly cannot thank Zuckerberg and his wife enough for their contribution

• The hospital will not only make the city better but will impact the lives of so many children and families that now have a place to go
