Sanjam Sahi Gupta, the founder of Maritime SheEO, is anadvocate for Gender Diversity in Maritime. She is thefounding member WISTA India and an Exco MemberWISTA International. She is also on the Executive Board ofthe World Maritime University.

Birgit Liodden, is the founder of The Ocean OpportunityLab, and YoungShip International, former Director of Nor-Shipping , and a long-term gender equality spokesperson.

Welcome everyone for a journey into accelerating diversity, sustainability and empoweringchange makers. In 2018, two friends from India and Norway, Sanjam & Birgit, decided tocollaborate to further their personal commitment on gender equality.

Maritime SheEO was founded in 2019 with an aim to create the next generation of femalemaritime leaders. It offers a bouquet of services focusing on the business case for diversity.It aims to create solutions that can impact the maritime and allied industries – with a focuson diversity & inclusion (D&I), leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and competitiveadvantage.

The third partner here, Heidi Aven from SHE Community, has built Europe's largest genderequality conference, and developed the first gender equality index for the business sector,the SHE Index.

The three of them have collaborated extensively to push the gender equality movement inshipping.

The first Maritime SheEO conference was held virtually in November 2020, the world'sbiggest maritime gender equality conference ever held - gathering 1600+ participants fromacross 77+ countries.
