Research Activities

Hello,

My name is Will, I'm a third year Graphic Design student in Leeds, UK. I am putting together a book for a project which illustrates the difference between a brand, an identity and a logo. I am trying to use examples of design that have a clever element to it like the Diamond Bookstore logo you did. As part of the book, I wanted to have a small interview from the designer(s) asking them some questions. If you have a spare 10mins to answer as many of these as you can I would appreciate it greatly!

Questions.

When you designed this logo was it a live brief or a project for fun? How many years have you been a designer? Do you work from home or for a company? What would you say your speciality was in design? Whats your main goal when creating a new logo? Whats your favourite logo at the moment, and why? Which country do you currently live in? Whats your favourite colour? In a sentance or less how would you describe: a. Brand b. An Identity c. A Logo

Thank you very much for your time,

Regards,

Will

Sending out emails to all of the designers I can nd that have designed oneof the examples I am using in the publication. Above is an example of an emailsent.

Research Activities

This is another example of a email sent out, they are almost the same but I just changethe relevant parts for each designer.

Hello,

My name is Will, I'm a third year Graphic Design student in Leeds, UK. I am putting together a book for a project which illustrates the difference between a brand, an identity and a logo. I am trying to use examples of design that have an interesting element to it like the foiling process you used. As part of the book, I wanted to have a small interview from the designer(s) asking them some questions. If you have a spare 10mins to answer as many of these as you can I would appreciate it greatly!

Summary of Research

Format and Size

Size and format I thought about making it a square and basically sticking to a similar style as the yearbook. So it would be on around 300gsm stock, 210mm x 210mm 36page. At the moment I want to keep it simpleand maybe only use a couple of colours, maybe even black and white but that will develop more as I get moreidea’s for layouts.
