Page 2: March activity programme 2010

…to The Oxford English Centre! Here is the Social Activities Programme we’ve organised for you during your stay in Oxford.

In this booklet you will find details of all the activities planned for the time you are here. Please check in advance what you will be doing each day so you know where and when to meet and if you need to bring anything. The meeting place for all of your activities is Caramba Café, Carfax tower or The Oxford English Centre front carpark. Please check carefully so you know where you should be meeting.

And finally… It is very important that you carry your STUDENT CARD/DRIVING LICENCE OR I.D. AT ALL TIMES. Without it, you may not be able to take part in some social activities. The weather and the programme may change. Keep checking the Social Activities Notice Boards!! More information about tours and activities is provided on the Activities board. Important: All students under 18 must return to their host families by 22.30 If you have any problems or questions, please see Rachel, our social activities organiser.

We look forward to meeting you and hope you have fun at OEC!

Saturday excursions… Saturday 6th March 2010: STONEHENGE, SALISBURY AND AVEBURY (£33)

Stonehenge is Britain’s oldest monument, built over 5,000 years ago. Take your time to listen to its amazing story. Later, our guide will show you Salisbury with its spectacular, famous cathedral. Then you will have plenty of time to explore the city. Our magical journey ends in Avebury, like Stonehenge but even bigger!

Saturday 13th March 2010: CAMBRIDGE (£30) You will hear the history of the university and also enter King’s College Chapel. You can spend your free time exploring colleges, walking through lovely meadows, or shopping and visiting the free Fitzwilliam Museum.

Saturday 20th March 2010: BATH (£33)

With your free audio guide you can take as long as you want to see the 2000-year-old Roman Baths. You will go on a tour around the 18th Century city and you will see the Crescent and the Circus, two of the most impressive streets in Europe. Includes entrance to the Roman Baths Museum.

Saturday 27th March 2010: WALES (£31)

We will first visit the 800 year old ruins of Tintern Abbey in the beautiful Welsh borders that inspired poet William Wordsworth. When you arrive in Cardiff you will have lots of time to see the castle, the free National Museum and to explore the biggest shopping area in Wales. Take time to enjoy the culture and language of Britain’s most traditional country. Includes entrance to Tintern Abbey.
