The Heart of Worship: Sacrifice

Romans 12: 1-2

1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and

sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to

offer your bodies as a living

sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God --this is your true

and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of

this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your

mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what

God’s will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Next Week! A New Series Begins

At the Foot of the Cross Larry will begin a new sermon series: “At the Foot of the Cross.” We know there were several people at the cross, watching Jesus die. There was the centurion who was in charge of the execution… the Priests and Pharisees who were happy to see Jesus removed from their world…the disciples who watched in horror and shock…Jesus’ mother, Mary, whose heart broke to see her son suffering. Come next Sunday as we look at the people who stood “At the Foot of the Cross.”

Hear Rev. Art Allen tell the story of his wife’s book: Zeal to Educate Women. The women in her family changed the lives of countless children in China and their story needs to be heard. The presentation will begin at 6:30pm in the Sanctuary.

For women ONLY. Come for an evening of stamping, beading, cross-stitching, crochet, or any other hobby you enjoy. Registration is appreciated and the forms can be found in the Children’s Department’s mailbox or in the entry way to the Children’s Building. Cost is $10. It will be fun.

This Wednesday the Disciple, Mom’s Connect, and Finding the Heart’s True Home sessions will continue to meet at their normal times. All other adults are invited to come to hear Rev. Art Allen (see above). There will be no FaithBreak on March 19th due to Spring Break. FaithBreak will resume on March 26th. New classes are listed below.

GIDEON: When we hear the name of Gideon, most of us think

about his 300 soldiers or the fleece he laid out under the evening

sky. But Gideon’s story is so much bigger than that -- bigger than

any one man and his mark on Israel’s history. Like everything else

in the Bible, this is a story about God and his people. Based on the

book by Priscilla Shirer and led by Andrea Sagely in SB211.
